Well apparently my proposed NatWest mortgage is entering a 2 month farce now. After having to go through a broker and providing multiple copies of the same ID to NatWest who refused it on being illegible (my copies I provided were as good as the original passport) I ended up being asked to go into the branch last week for them to certify it there and copy and fax it, should have had the definite go ahead on Friday, nothing. Called today, apparently the branch lady did not sign or certify it right so now its gone back there. So another 3 day wait before underwriters...This whole ID back and forth thing has been going on for over 4 weeks now. I should have had a YES or No 4 weeks ago. I just cant believe the comedy value of it all. Me and my wife have gone past stressing, gone past crying and are now fully in hysterics. Our whole process has been the biggest farce you can imagine from Natwest being totally and utterly incompetent to my solicitor being intervened bv SRA, me loosing a lot of money and having to start the whole conveyancing again. If we don't get a yes by Wednesday im sacking the whole thing in and will continue to rent as its not worth the personal stress anymore or the money. I know some people have had no problems with Natwest and ours initially seemed to go very smoothly until just before valuation was ordered. Valuation was returned over a month ago ready to be signed off onto offer and this has been carrying on since the 10th July. Sorry for the rant but just had to let loose.0

Hello!
I'd like to join please, after a very stressful year.
April 14 - Sold house & moved in with parents
13th June - Had offer accepted on property but no complete chain so standstill whilst we offered ''grace period'' to find somewhere
28th July - Have agreed move date of mid September as vendor agreed to go to rented
31st July - Through MA get DIP with Leeds BS
31st July - Full application submitted
That is where we are at at the moment and i feel sick to my stomach waiting for the decision, we are at the high end of affordability but have no debt or bad history so im hoping it will be a yes we need our own space so badly and we have a baby also who i want to get into a routine and settled!
Good luck everyone!
5th August - more bank statements requested
5th August - Sent over bank statements (which im sure i already sent to Which? Mortgage advisors)
8th August - Gone to full first assessment with underwriter
Have been told by Leeds that it can take up to 3 working days to hear on the first assessment so should hear something Wednesday hopefully.0 -
Just had L&C contact me saying that Nationwide are asking where July's rent is from our tenants
.
They paid it 3 weeks late so it still isn't showing in our accounts yet. I'm now really stressing that this will affect us getting the mortgage offer. In which case to say I'll be annoyed with the tenants is a huge understatement.0 -
Well, no update on my current state of affairs and needless to say I am getting quite frustrated. I have tried to contact our broker a number of times today to get an update on the application but each time i am sent to answerphone.
Is there any possible way that I can actually chase up the Mortgage application myself?0 -
It seems that when things go slightly wrong in a mortgage process / application it then escalates into massive delays and problems.
It's almost like that if the process has to go back a step or two such as additional information requests it never recovers and never runs smoothly from there on?
It's either application & offer within 10 days or 2-3 months of back and forth with lender or broker.
Just my observation0 -

Who is yours with? i just rang Leeds directly without an application number or anything and they just asked some details then told me the situation, they were much more willing to tell me time lines etc that the Mortgage Brokers weren't0 -

Mine is with Santander, What kind of questions did they ask you when you called up?
It does seem like trying to get blood out of a stone sometimes when dealing with brokers (No offense to any brokers who read this).
I will have to see if i can find a contact number for Santander mortgage applications.0 -
