  • In case anyone finds it useful, this is my timeline (with Natwest, single FTB) so far:

    DIP (via broker) – 01/07
    Offer Accepted on property– 02/07
Full Mortgage Application (via broker) – 10/07
Full Mortgage Offer Received – 21/07
    Valuation Survey – 24/07
Mortgage Offer received in post - 30/07

Yesterday (31/7) I got home to find the Mortgage Deed had arrived, and today I signed that and had a work colleague sign it as my witness. I'll send that back today. I have to admit, it's all progressing so much faster than I imagined, given I had read every thread on here and had read some horror stories about Natwest! I also couldn't have done this without the help of my broker, she has been fantastic despite only working part time! :T

Good luck to anyone still waiting to hear - I hope my timeline helps put into perspective that things can run quickly and smoothly (so far, touch wood!!!) and it's not always a long struggle. I'll keep you updated as to a possible completion date when I hear.

That's ridiculous, is there any complaints procedure you can go through? What has your broker said? Hope you manage to get something sorted sounds like a nightmare!

Well what a nightmare . After failing to get in touch with my solicitor through phone or email phone was off the hook I went around there this morning. Well the office was shut up and I saw him jumping in his car and literally ran away from me. Got to my office phoned the solicitors regulation authority and found out he ceased trading 29th July and all his assets and files have been seized pending investigation. Can you believe it? Anyway was going to give up but thought better of it. I appointed a new solicitor straight away found out where the seized files are being held and managed to talk to a guy who has my actual file with contracts & searches in it, he verified it is all present and correct and now he can forward it to my new solicitors (major relief). However I could well end up having to have contracts drawn out again and searches potentially done again. We were due to exchange next week so we could have potentially lost of 30 thousand pounds had this happened next week. In any case its put us back weeks. Iv informed my broker there is a new solicitor and he thinks it will only delay my mortgage offer by a matter of days. But I really need to exchange and complete ASAP otherwise the whole things going to fall through :( To say im devastated is an understatement but I will fight on. I cannot believe how much of a chore our application and house buying process has been from day one. It makes me never want to buy a house in the UK again , hope everyone else is having better luck than me

Funny how 90% of the people recommending the use of brokers on here are brokers :D
Funny how those recommending particular lenders are the ones who just happened to fit that particular lender's criteria, without actually knowing that before they applied...

We don't have that luxury. We're expected to ensure our client meets the lender's criteria before we submit the application, or agreement in principle.

If you're "vanilla" and fit any lender's criteria, that's fine. If you're not, a recommendation to approach a particular lender can cost a speculative credit search which might be completely wasted.

That's awful:( But at least you found out before he had your deposit money.

    Hello, here's my updated timeline:

June 25 - Saw flat, asking price 650-700k.
June 26 - Made offer, sale agreed at 620k.
June 27 - Applied for 49% mortgage with Woolwich through Broker.
July 1 - Provided missing payslips, further docs requested.
July 11 - Valuation conducted, valued at purchase price.
July 25 - Woolwich asks for employer reference from my wife, address proof.
July 30 - Received text message from Woolwich that mortgage is approved.

This is a 5.4x combined salary mortgage. Looking forward to signing the offer letter tomorrow! :-)

I was really surprised they agreed without any kind of those horrific investigations I hear about steaks and restaurant spend.
Both my wife and I have been living in the UK for just under a year.

    Hello!

I'd like to join please, after a very stressful year.

April 14 - Sold house & moved in with parents
13th June - Had offer accepted on property but no complete chain so standstill whilst we offered ''grace period'' to find somewhere
28th July - Have agreed move date of mid September as vendor agreed to go to rented
31st July - Through MA get DIP with Leeds BS
31st July - Full application submitted

That is where we are at at the moment and i feel sick to my stomach waiting for the decision, we are at the high end of affordability but have no debt or bad history so im hoping it will be a yes we need our own space so badly and we have a baby also who i want to get into a routine and settled!

    Good luck everyone!

    Hi everyone,

How have you all found the MMR stress test? Are they stringent, probing questions? Have they downgraded loan amount because of general expenditure on bank statements? (cash withdrawals).
I've got my full mortgage application Friday with Leeds BS.

Trying to get a heads up, any tips on what to say?

    Thanks

Good luck bowsh9! Do you mean you are submitting your full application this Friday? We did ours through MA on Thursday but not heard anything yet, we just had to fill in a direct debit form that Leeds sent through.

Are you going direct or using a MA?
