I haven't read the whole thread but totally agree with this. We're FTBs and when we first found a house we liked I didn't have guaranteed work for September (I'm a teacher and contract ends in august. I now have work for September). Unfortunately now the house we liked has sold so we're looking again. But got our AIP yesterday even though I don't have a copy of my new contract yet. A couple of appointments to view houses today that we thought would be out of our price rangeNSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Current timeline:
9/7/14: offer accepted on first property.
19/7/14: fell in love with a back up property and made the big choice to pull out of other sale risking offer not being accepted on new property.
21/7/14: Offer accepted on lovely place.
24/7/14: AM mortgage application completed and submitted.
24/7/14: PM bank asked for letters for deposit gifts.
25/7/14: bank asked for landlord details and whether my partner (not buying with me) has dependants.
28/7/14: bank asked more about partner to assess whether they hae claim on property
30/07/14: bank ask for landlords contact number
31/07/14: update that bank will offer full mortgage amount following valuation. Told that valuation will be within 3 days and to expect offer in the post within 5!
05/08/14: Valuation date
07/08/14: when my broker told me to expect my offer in the post if all goes well! (Fingers crossed : this would make it 14 days from application to written offer)
Very happy for far! Was expecting they to offer less then I asked for so today has lifted a lot of fears. Will feel even better when I have the offer in my hands. Next step for me now is to book a survey!0 -

Oh no, i'm so sorry to hear thisI'm glad you had a few in backup and have found another you're interested in buying. I hope it's a smooth ride for you this time around, and like you say, thank god you haven't got to go through the entire process all over again! Fingers crossed for you.

My application with natwest has now turned into what can only be called an absolute farce. My broker just called to say they have received the ID documents (for fourth time now) and now they have just realised my appointed solicitor (who has now carried out £500 worth of work) is no longer on their appointed panel of solicitors. They were when we started some month and a half ago but they now no longer are. The end result is NO mortgage, not unless we change solicitors and start all over again. I can't get in touch with my solicitor via phone or email (was 4pm when i found out). To say I'm devastated is an understatement. This has got a high probability of ruining me financially if it carries on.
I have come to the conclusion i may never buy a house in this country again after this, the stress is not worth it.:mad:0 -

Benorient, mine is also with Santander. They seemed to keep asking for information from me, all of which I provided on the same day too. It may be that they are waiting for an update from your broker. Is there anyone else in the brokers company who could help you? My valuation has been booked for the 5th, so very quickly baring in mind the weekend is coming up. Santander also went directly to the estate agent to book the valuation in, so might be worth asking the agent if they've been in touch?0 -
Got my mortgage offer today at last...AIP was on 15/06/14.
Survey on our property for our buyers booked Monday, so providing that is ok and matches our agreed sale price, chain is looking complete, all finances and legal bits done, so not long now to completion I hope!Other than mortgage, debt free since June 2014:)0 -

That's ridiculous, is there any complaints procedure you can go through? What has your broker said? Hope you manage to get something sorted sounds like a nightmare!0
