Does it detail the requirements or just list what documents they want?
I had a list of documents required, but nowhere does it say (for example) that Internet-printed bank statements must include the URL. There were lots of little things like that.0 -
Ah, no.
That comes with experience and the very useful guide our Business Development Manager provided lat week, setting out what you can get from each bank's internet banking they would accept.
TBH in most cases, if you look at the lender's online criteria for intermediaries, it's there;-
http://www.nationwide-intermediary.co.uk/lendingcriteria/general/generalOnline Bank Statements must show:
Customer(s) initial(s) or full name(s)
Account Number and Sort Code
A valid web address displayed at the bottom of each page
All pages must be numbered and visible
The required number of month's transactions showing
Scroll down and the criteria for online bank statements is there!I am a mortgage broker. I know that brokers have many advantages but going direct to the Nationwide worked well for me. No documents had to be posted, and the mortgage centre will have had the reassurance that one of their own staff had scanned in the documents. Most of my accounts are with them which simplified what I had to print off (I do shop around, just find the Nationwide hard to beat)
Then when I got the text to say that the offer had been issued, I could download it immediately from online banking. So the solicitor had it to work from two hours later (by email).
Actually the Nationwide don't make much of the fact that you can track online, it's not that obvious. It's under the Browse Products and Apply tab, then My Quotes and Applications. I was surprised how much is in there.....Fashion on the Ration

Agree 100%. Nationwide were very easy to deal with and a broker would only have added expense and delay in my case. The online tracking is good but does result in far-too-frequent logins to check for progress...

I've just got home to a copy of the valuation survey and my official offer of mortgage letter!!!!!! :j
I am so incredibly happy I can't even begin to describe it!! :T
Good luck for anyone still waiting. It's taken 15 working days from date of application to written offer, with Natwest. There is light at the end of the tunnel!!! :rotfl:0 -

I'd say getting a broker is a good idea if your circumstances aren't straightforward though. As first time buyers we'd be lost without our broker.0 -

I totally agree. I was declined a mortgage via a private application, but with a broker I got one with the same lender, same deal. The broker made all the difference, and like yourself, as a ftb (buying alone) I'd be totally lost!0
