What can I do if I really want to escalate/complain about this (without sabotaging my chances of getting a mortgage?!). This is quite frankly ridiculous.

    I feel your pain Lawlie!!

We put our full application into Woolwich via broker on the 10th June and we have too'd and fro'd since! 😡 our valuation was done on the 17th July so 2 weeks on Wednesday, still not heard anything else and online tracking hasn't shown activity since 17th :(

Not doing my nerves any good either as we applied to nationwide in May and they declined us after a month so hoping this is not the same!!
I have emailed out broker today for an update as I still haven't heard any news for her either!

    :j

So relieved, just had the email to say that my mortgage offer letter has been issued

    Timeline:
    11/06 Nationwide Decision in Principle
    05/07 Viewed the property
    07/07 Offer accepted
17/07 Full Mortgage Application in branch
    25/07 Valuation and Homebuyer Report
    28/07 Offer letter issued

I actually lost a week because a work issue meant I had to move my appointment to make the FMA from 10 July to 17 July

I'm impressed that the Nationwide load the offer letter onto the Online Banking site. Amused also that one of the recorded stages is called "Plausibility" :rotfl:

Now to start stressing about exchange dates!!
    Fashion on the Ration
    2024 - 43/66 coupons used, carry forward 23
    2025 - 62/89
  • Has anyone had additional evidence requested from underwriters and then had a favourable outcome ie mortgage offer or is their request just the preliminary stage to a 'no' ? FTB here and really worried so looking forward to hearing about your experiences.
Never trust any stats you didn't fudge yourself ;o)

I'd been awake for three minutes this morning and was already wondering when I'd hear about yesterday's valuation. Hadn't even opened my eyes yet when I got a text from Nationwide to say they'd received the valuation report, followed seconds later by another one saying they'd approved it.

I'm really hoping I'll have an offer by the end of the week; fingers crossed!!

I can't imagine they'd bother asking to see more evidence if it was a foregone 'no'. I think asking for additional paperwork is fairly standard. Which lender is it, and what are they asking for?

Were waiting, house is marked as SOLD STC.

We have a question though? The water in the property is drained down, so we cant check the taps/toilets/boiler etc.

Will we be able to arrange via the solicitor that the property is restored prior to completion? Water working, toilets working, boiler working etc for a quick look before the final sigs?

    Good News.

Both Mortgage Offers arrived in the post yesterday, well they were here when we arrived home.

That's the solicitors instructed, valuations carried out, not going with a survey, just waiting on the roofer to get back with a report..

Going to go knock on the Sellers Door and say "Hi", "Im buying your house...we love it...but there is a problem with the Roof.."

Had the same yesterday afternoon. I have been told I should receive the text about the official offer this afternoon.

    Fingers crossed.

Just been told by the estate agent that our mortagage could take another 10 days to come through because there's been a revaluation. This doesn't make any sense to me because the valuation was done two weeks ago so that's over 10 days. I'm really started to loose it now

    Hello everyone,

    Here's my timeline so far:

    19th July - House Viewed
24th July - DIP Received from Halifax
25th July - Offer on house accepted
29th July - Full Mortgage App filled in with Broker

Right now I have everything crossed, i'm so nervous. My broker said the valuation survey should hopefully be carried out this week.

  • Hi there,

I've found this forum really interesting and helpful.

    Here's my experience so far.

    Doing SO so abit different.

8th July- view flat and placed our interest.
16th July- offered flat subject to HA financial interview. Which was done the same day.
    18th July- DIP from Halifax
24th July- full mortgage app with Halifax. subject to valuation.

    Valuation booked for 1st August!

The property in question is only 6 years old so hoping it should be ok :S

Probably won't here anything until the week after.
