Doing this on my own at my age has done my head in haha, so glad to see a light at the end of the tunnel!
Your not the only one - Ive had my mortgage offer for over 3 weeks now - but the local searches are taking 6 weeks here - I just want to complete asap before Nat West decide to take the offer back - I know this is rare but I have been on edge for weeks.
and yes I am 45, doing this on my own also, but I need to do it now otherwise I will never own another property!
I can see a big decline in mortgage approvals over the next few months!0 -

I had my mortgage approved yesterday. I got the same text, and thought exactly the same things as you. I rang my IFA only to find he was going to be out of the office till next week... I had to know if it was an offer the same as what I'd applied for. So after about an hour on the phone I managed to get someone on the phone who confirmed it was. :j
I think as long as the valuation is approved, you get exactly what you asked for. (If you get that text message)... I could be wrong, but from what I've read from other people, and in my case.
Good luck!0 -
Just rang them on 08456093422 option 1 option 2 (didnt hold AT ALL) and they have confirmed my offer is for the full amount!! I'm so excited I could pop!0

Yep good feeling isn't it
Unfortunately the house was undervalued for me - luckily the vendors dropped the price to so its all go go go !0 -
Congrads Dilleyhead and ukbrockest!! It's a good feeling isn't it... I'm a first time buyer, and now that the mortgage has been approved I can plan for a summer in my new home!!0

Has anyone heard back from Santander recently..?
The wait is killing me!0 -
Update -
I called the mortgage centre today, to check if they had received the outstanding documents that were re-sent yesterday from the in branch MA ('we haven't got your SA302's') ...
After holding for a couple of minutes, I was told that our application has been approved subject to valuation!! I was told that somebody will be in touch Tomorrow/Monday regarding the valuation -
Can anybody tell me if I will need to "do the legwork" and advise the Estate Agent/Sellers of the Valuation time/date? Or will Natwest take care of that? (I gave the contact details of the estate agent to the in branch MA during the full application 2 weeks ago).
Thanks0 -
13/05 As promised the broker updated me today, lender is apparently happy with the documentation and instructed a valuation. Was told that like Santander/Abbey, Accord apparently do not book a valuation unless they are happy with the application and it is really only the valuation that needs to be done. Can anyone confirm this?
I suppose now we have to play the waiting game with regards to a valuation appointment which is now down to the Surveyors and could apparently, potentially take weeks before we get an appointment.
15/05 Surprise, surprise. Was just notified by the broker that the lender flagged that one of my wide's payslips looked different from the other 2 (2 were print-off screens, the one they flagged was a screenshot). So much about them being "happy with our documentation" ... I feel like this is just some kind of delay tactic yet again....
Wife provided the payslip in the "correct" format, but I doubt we will get any further this week now given that it's already Thursday afternoon now.0 -

15/05 Another update, chased the builder and they confirmed the valuation is booked for the 29th of May... so another 2 weeks of waiting just for that now.0 -
Hi all, Have also been lurking around reading this thread. We are FTB in Wales and looking for a 90% mortgage
21/03/2014 House first listed on rightmove asking price £144,950
22/03/2014 Viewed property for 1st time. I loved it but OH was ill so couldn't come with me
24/03/2014 2nd viewing. Still love it and OH loves it too but he wants to see it again.
26/03/2014 3rd viewing - decision made to make an offer
27/03/2014 Offer made of £142,000 and asked for property to be removed from market at this price due to level of interest. Offer rejected. Also told by EA that this property was only bought in Dec 2013 so had been owned for less than 6 months and some lenders will not borrow on this fact due to Money Laundering regs. I'd never heard of this before so it ruled out going with Post Office for mortgage who was out 1st choice.
27/03/2014 2nd offer for full asking price and removal from market accepted!!:j Solicitor chosen and appointed
31/03/2014 Meeting with mortgage advisor who suggested we try with Nationwide.
02/04/2014 AIP received from NW. Full application made
03/04/2014 NW will only offer us 85% LTV. MA suggest we try Virgin Money
14/04/2014 Application sent to Virgin via MA
24/04/2014 AIP and application agreed. They have requested P60's from us both and card details to take booking fee and valuation fee
25/04/2014 MA advises me Survey booked for 29/04/2014:j
I really hope this goes through for us soon. I think the vendors are getting a bit impatient!! Fingers crossed:)
UPDATE
Well valuation was fine. Just been waiting and waiting and yesterday we were told that we need to submit more recent wage slips for my partner who gets paid weekly. We sent some in at the time of application which were as recent as they could have been at that time but it's taken ages since then so they want some up to date ones.
MA is going to scan them over today.
Really hoping to get some news soon. Getting bored of waiting! Lol0
