  • Hi thought I'd join in
We started off having an offer on principal with santander beginning of September. Partner SE and I'm not working currently.
Had valuation 7th October and soft and gard checks done, bank statements submitted etc, accounts for previous years, statement from accountants. Got declined in the middle of November. Now going through process again with Halifax. This time our broker insisted they underwrite first, then make offer pending valuation. Had to jump through some hoops to get our info accepted but all us in now. Nervously waiting for a decision tomorrow. Wish us luck....
Wishing you best of luck any news yet  as I m in the situation as you

I’m just starting to look at moving a home and was hoping for some advice on the process. I’ve never purchased a home so it’s all very new and very confusing.
I’ve outlined the background in a post a few days ago but essentially we would be looking for an adverse mortgage, with part of the deposit coming from equity in the home my wife owns and part coming from a gifted deposit which will be available in April.
We really like a plot in a new development we viewed last weekend. The house is estimated to be completed in 6 months.
What I’ve done so far is contact a mortgage broker who is looking into the feasibility of obtaining a mortgage with our circumstances. I have also organised valuations for our current home.
If the broker were to come back to me this week and tell me he thinks he can get us an offer, what should our next steps be?
Next stepa will be offer in principal applications. Prepare all your documents income/outgoing statement etc 3 x month bank statements. Wage slips etc. Passport/driving.licence utility bill

  • We’ve just had a mortgage application go through with the Bank of Ireland for a new build property - I was very impressed to say the least. Took about a week....

06/01/2021 - AIP Completed and Approved
07/01/2021 - Full mortgage application Submitted
    07/01/2021 - 13/01/2021 - Valuation Completed (I’m not sure exactly when)
14/01/2021 - Full Mortgage Offer via Email.
Just awaiting the paperwork via post now.

Might be worth noting we were buying a different house last year with the Bank of Ireland, which fell through, just as we were going to get the mortgage offer back.

Brilliant, congratulations! We got AIP from BOI yesterday, so are now preparing to submit the full application. This gives me hope.

Thanks! I’m just thankful there’s been no fuss.
We were quite surprised as a lot of people on this forum are saying things are taking months longer than usual...

I’m glad to hear that someone else is going through BoI too... I’ve searched and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of info on here about them.
I hope yours goes just as well, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!
  • Hi All
Just wanted to find out what Barclays is like with BTL applications (we are both employed) ? We applied on Friday 15th January, asking for 70% LTV. Broker seems to think we will hear back at some point next week but not sure what to believe. Has anyone had any experience with Barclays recently ?
    Thank You
