  • Hi all, I’ve been a bit of a lurker the past couple of weeks so I’ve taken the plunge and joined. I can’t stop pacing the floor and checking my emails every two minutes!

I’ve gone with a broker and they submitted my application on the 30th June to Principality.

I chased it with my MB’s team a week before last  as I’d not had an update and was told  they had a query regarding my shift allowance on my pay slip and that she think they’re just confused and so she’s tried to clarify and explain it today with them.

I’ve discovered that my lender is only prepared to lend approximately 20K less than what I need currently. I suspect looking at the numbers they’ve only taken into consideration my base pay and not my shift allowance for whatever reason. I’ve had a gander at my lenders criteria and it states “Basic salary plus 100% of regular bonus or shift allowance...” I get this shift allowance each month and it clear on my payslip however doesn’t explicitly state “shift allowance”  so the only thing I can think of is that they may have thought it was a one off payment?

They only require one payslip and one bank statement having a nosey at their lending criteria which makes me think they suspect it could be a one off.

I’ll admit I’m a little annoyed that they didn’t make it clear in the application to be honest but there we go, it is what it is now.

I’ve been told it’ll take a 5/6 day turn around for them to check this.

I would like to think that if they’ve mistakenly not taken that into consideration then if they do it should be a relatively simple yes/no response on whether it’ll change from the £83,500.

Fingers crossed I get an update early next week about whether they’re happy or not.

Argh. I’m stressing and the carpet is wearing thin from my pacing the floor.

We applied online. It's just very frustrating as we were constantly told it was with the underwriters (we phoned many times over the weeks) but then when our application was rejected it was because it expired so I'm not sure it was with anyone. So we're not sure how long it has been with the underwriters - but when we phoned on Friday and directly spoke to the underwriters they said it would be sorted by the end of the day.

Looks like there are some long waits at the moment 😫
How did you manage to speak directly with the underwriters please?

    FINALLY - TSB TIME LINE

    16/06 - Agreement in principle
    18/06 - Application submitted
19/06 - Sent to under writer
22/07 - Offer subject to valuation
    23/07 - Desktop valuation
    24/07 - MORTGAGE OFFER!!!!

The wait and not knowing has been excruciating, but finally we have the offer 🙌🏻 So glad we made the decision to go ahead with the solicitors searches back in June. Hopefully exchange Tuesday & Complete first week in August! 🤞🏻 good luck everybody! Stick with it, it’s worth the wait!!
    Thats brilliant news!

We're still waiting, though underwriter asked for info on childcare costs which are now nil which was sent back immediately, so hopefully we will be hearing something this coming week as we applied a few days behind you.
Hopefully won’t be long now. We were asked for more information and another letter from our accountant and offer was issued 4 days later. We wasn’t even aware they had down valuation 🤦🏼‍♀️ Good luck 🤞🏻
Thanks, i've got everything crossed that much i'm worried it might stay that way  :o

Their communication hasn't been the greatest, our valuation was the same not a peep from them and then the update was everything was done, returned and waiting on the underwriter...just a case of more waiting but with slightly more hope than we've had the past few weeks.
  • Glad we are back on working days, fingers crossed this week is the week.
  • Same @SierraRomeo30, maybe this week we'll finally find out 😬 coming up 4 weeks since application with HSBC.

@SierraRomeo30 @chillicheesedog Not sure my heart can take another week. If it makes you feel any better, I'm just starting my 7th week waiting with Halifax :s
I was told the legal side was the slow part haha and that's already done!

Our mortgage with nationwide so far.
    Applied 15th July
    valuation 22nd July
update today 27th July it’s away with the underwriters. I don’t know if this means it’s bad news. I thought nationwide did their underwriting before the valuation. Has anyone else expierenced this and still had good news?
