Spoke to the Mortgage Broker who has advised that due to turnaround times it’s unlikely to be looked at until the back end of next week now. We’ll be on day 21 then. I don’t understand what’s taking so long to be honest, neither of us had our jobs affected by Covid and the valuation has come back fine. Soooo frustrating.

Did BOI email you or did you get confirmation from your MB?

We got an email directly from BOI directly and then the broker but we can't access the portal until we get the offer through the post with the access codes in it.

Dreading the weekend wait ahead of me. I really expected to hear from nationwide today as our valuation was carried out and submitted on Wednesday and I seen loads of people on here say they for the offer the next day. Nationwide advises I’ll hear by Tuesday. The dreaded weekend wait will be long.

Some good news finally... got fed up with HSBC still unable to sort IT issues on my application and gave Halifax a call (they approved me for a mortgage back in Feb, though didn't go through due to issues with the property). They've done a destop val today and had the email saying mortgage is approved 
Cost me a valuation fee and slightly highee rate but worth it to remove the stress!

Another stressful day today. Have managed to organise a timber and damp specialist to carry out a survey on Tue 28 next week.
I have also been forwarded some paperwork from my solicitor that shows damp proofing work was carried out last year which came with a 20 year guarantee. Hopefully the report from Tue does not show that the damp has got any worse, that the original work was not done properly or that there are new signs of damp. The property was built in 1860 and the surrounding area is close to a body of water (River Nene, Cambridgeshire). 

My building surveyor is fully booked up for the next 10 days and it seems to be the trend at the moment due to a spike in property activity. The sellers EA is pressuring me to get the survey carried out asap as the seller wants to complete by the end of August, even as going as far as telling me that i might have to look for another surveyor. I told him to jog on and that i wont be pressurised into someone else's time-frame.

• 6th July 2020 - DIP received
• 7th July 2020 - Mortgage application submitted (Got a text and email from Nationwide about receiving the application)
• 8th July 2020 - Valuation booked for 20th July 2020
• 16th July 2020 - Another update with valuation being resheduled for 27th July 2020
• 17th July 2020 - We can see the hard search performed on us
