  • After what felt like eternity, we’ve finally got our mortgage offer :D just for anyone reading (I found super useful) here are my timelines for Nationwide.
    19/06 - AIP issued
    22/06- Full application
23/06 - Text for nationwide stating they’ve received my application.
29/06 - Further documents requested (we have been gifted our deposit)
02/07 - Text from nationwide stating valuation is booked
    08/07 - Valuation day
    09/07 - Valuation received
    09/07 - Mortgage Offer

Good luck to you all, the waiting was horrible but it will all go well!

  • From first call to hard credit check was two days. It came back with ref to underwriter because I only have 4 years working life left on a 10 year mortgage application. I was aware of that so asked them not to include me on the application as my partners salary 'more' than covers the small amount we are borrowing.  But they insisted saying it wouldn't be taken into account anyway. However, it was. So if this flounders, I've lost the chance of a really competitive fixed rate due to a 27% LTV, and have to start the whole sodding process again. I'd rather be back on Chemo and maintain a private rent then go through this again !

    Hi all.
Our MA submitted with Santander today. I'm self employed, and it's to purchase the remainder of our SO house. I remember this type of thread when we bought the first half 14 years ago!

Hello, I posted earlier this week that I applied for my Mortgage with Saffron BS on the 09/07. I’m aware that there is a 12 day behind process too and was advised by my broker of this, plus I was on pins abit with it being accepted as i’m not a ‘perfect’ applicant and applying for 95% mortgage in these times will be tough.

Since you’ve done the application and paid the fee, have you heard or done anything else since? Or are you still literally waiting to hear if it has gone to underwriters or if a valuation has been done? I’m hoping that it’ll be done before the start of August
My broker had to resend two bits of information (proof of deposit and an assets and liability form). I also had to fill in another form listing my income and expected expenditure. As far as I'm aware the application is with the underwriters but no valuation date has been booked as yet. Today is the 14th working day since i submitted my full application. I'm constantly reminded that due to Coronavirus and the fact that Saffron are a small building society that there will be delays. Its disheartening when you see that people have applied around the same time as me or after and have had their mortgage offers. Unfortunately at the time of applying it was either Saffron via a broker or trying to navigate the nightmare that is the online process of HSBC. In some respects I now wish I had just waited the three weeks to speak to the advisor at HSBC, at least I could check on the application myself instead of having to call the broker every few days.

    Hello,
we’re following a similar time line to you.
i had a text this afternoon to say valuation received but nothing about an offer and now I’m filled with dread.  Can I ask how soon after your valuation received text did you get the one about the offer? I’ve seen lots of people say that they came through simultaneously and so it’s bothering me that we’ve had nothing.

    congratulations on your offer :-)

The text came in straight after the first one. I wouldn’t worry too much, I’ve been following loads of other nationwide timelines and most hear back within 2 working days. I wish you all the best!! & thank you!

Hi all, is anyone applying with NatWest? (I also bank with them).
I’m a FTB for a new build using the HTB equity loan. My MB submitted the application on the 9th June and valuation completed 3 weeks later and was with the underwriter to sign off on the 26th June. I chased MB for an update on 6th July and they’re requesting an urgent update. I decided to find out what the underwriting timescale was, so I sent a message on NatWest mobile app, they replied saying they’ve received my documents and due to be underwritten by the next day i.e. 9th July which is today. Well today has come and gone and still no news! Any idea what could be holding it up? It’s been nerve racking and is no news, bad news?! 😩

Congratulations to everyone who has got their offer - so exciting! And hand-holding for everyone else waiting! I had a bit of an update about mine yesterday timeline below...
06/07 - AIP with Halifax; full application submitted, hard search on credit report
07/07 - Hard search on credit report
09/07 - AM - broker says that application in the queue for underwriter - current 7 to 10 day backlog.
09/07 - PM - broker says that valuation has come back at 40K lower than I have offered. Now deciding what to do!

Re the low valuation - has anyone experienced this? It basically means we will have to fix at 1.84% instead of 1.49% as LTV changes. I have done some quick research and don't think we will be able to submit the evidence to challenge. The valuation was only done online though. Not sure what to do next. Am minded to just carry on with the lower valuation as want to keep things moving but not sure if that is the best way.
