  • Hi Twitcher. I too only came across your post today and wanted to add my congratulations for coming to terms with your situation. It is only when you see the enormity of the task that you can start to take steps to redress the balance and get control back in to your life.

I am glad that you found this forum when you did. As we say around here, everyone has their lightbulb moment, and you have had yours now! From here on in, every step you take is giving you the power back to live your life.

Do not lose any sleep over your debts. These debts are not personal, in as much I mean you do not owe money to any individuals. Your creditors are banks and credit card companies. Companies that lend money based on commercial risk, and that risk is offset by the interest they charge. What I am trying to say is that no one is going to suffer because you can't pay your debts. The staff will still get paid, the directors still get their bonuses and the shareholders still get their dividends. What is more important is your sanity, clarity of mind and the ability to tackle each obstacle one by one.

I had some significant problems a few years ago, with a similar amount of debt as you have. I wish I had known about this site then, and about CCCS and PayPlan etc. I could have saved myself a lot of stress.

One important thing that you have already learned, there is a lot of help and support here. There are people that have been in a lot worse situation than you, and we all have leant one thing or another, and are prepared to share our knowledge freely. You may get the occasional detractor or trouble maker (I am surpised TBH they have not already been along spouting their venom and sanctimonious holier than thou claptrap), but you are among friends here!

So keep up the good work and I wish you well with your efforts.

    Hello again everyone

I am so sorry that I have not been able to post for the last two weeks.

I bet you have all given upon me.

The truth is I have been in a deep deep depression and have not been coping with the stress of it all.

I sent everything off three weeks ago and then went into a shell as I thought about what I had got myself into and worried myself sick that it was all going to be rejected by the creditors.

The weather has been awful and I have just stayed in for the last two weeks just about coping.

I was getting phone calls from one of my creditors who had put me on an automatic dialler system and it was driving me mad

Then incredibly today I got a letter from CCCS which says that I have been accepted and today this afternoon I paid the first Transcash payment at the Post Office.

    I cannot believe it.

Tonight I feel like a ton really HAS been lifted off me.

Please forgive me for not posting - I just couldn't bring myself to look at these pages because it made me ill because I wasn't actually on a DMP.
All of you were and I just thought that I wouldn't be offered one.

But NOW I know that I really am.

    Thankyou all

I know I should post more and I will I promise

Hey buddy, well done. You post when you need to. OK, we like to know how things are going, and TBH we may worry a little about not hearing from you, so if you can just keep us updated its great.

Excellent news about CCCS and your DMP. Its a solution to the ever deepening spiral and it does at least mean you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Don't forget, you can always pop along here when you are feeling down, just for a comforting word.

    Wish you all the best.
