:hello: Hi Twitcher, can't help much I'm afraid but I just wanted to say hello and that you're in the right place! Lovely people on here!!
Good luck xx0 -
This is a copy of what I just posted in the original thread.
I will post in this thread only from now on.
Thankyou sea78 for helping a "posting" newbie - I am now getting the hang of it !
Good Morning all
Thankyou everyone again for your kind words.
No offence taken Yellowmonkey because your comments hit the bullseye I am afraid.
I don't drink in the day its just in the evening/nighttime to get me to sleep but all it does is knock me out for a few hours.
Its stupid I know.
Had a VERY sleepless night last night - still awake at 3.30am.but I had alarm on for a doctors appt. Still I must have got 3-4 hours sleep.
I have high blood pressure and last year got diagnosed with Type2 diabetes so got to stop that cheap white cider stuff.
Sorry about going on about sleep so much but it is such a big issue with me.
I dread the night-time (especially in winter) when my brain goes into overdrive and drives me almost crazy. Its not so bad in summer when I see the early breaking dawn and feel calmer.
Oh dear I am rambling.
What is true is that I did NOT drink any alcohol at all yesterday 5th June.
I also worked on my SOA so thats a start and I rang CCCS to get some information.
I know Sea78 posted a new thread for me so I will post there from now on as thats where I will put my SOA later today.
I got a bit lost on the site yesterday and my first post was a surprise even to me !
Thanks everyone I DO feel my spirits lifted this morning.
I will try to cut and paste this post into the new thread.
love to you all
SOA to follow later today when I get it finalised.0 -
Hi Twitcher
I just wanted to say well done for not drinking yesterday, are you going for another drink free day today?
I know what you mean about not sleeping, i have a chronic pain condition which has in the past kept me up night after night. I get up and put a film on and have a blanket on the sofa, usually i drop off and then go back to bed later, i'm sure you've been told not to lie there tossing and turning.
I think its a good idea for you to contact CCCS they will be best placed to advise you as you have a home and equity.
Take care and take each day at a time its the only way to get through tough times.0 -
Hi Twitcher, just wanted to say well done for posting, you have started the DFW healing process, and this will help you get some control back in your life. There are wonderful people on this site, with a wealth of knowledge and experience, so the advice you will get will be from the heart and peoples personal experiences.
I think that you need to consider your options, which as I see it include Bancruptcy (but I understand that you don't want to go down that line),
Sell your property and use the equity to make full and final settlement offers to all your creditors, and move into rented accomodation, or
Contact all your creditors, explain your situation on IB making £1 minimum payments to each, then concentrate on getting back into work.
Digest all the advice that you get on here, then make an informed choice as to your future. You have coped wonderfully well with all that has been thrown at you, and you are now laying the foundations for a better future. Well done again!0 -
Hi Twitcher, a big welcome from all of us.
You're already making really great progress, staying off the beer is a great start. When you get your SOA posted we'll all sort through it for you and give you some ideas. Have you phoned payplan, cccs or the CAB? their debt counsellors are really nice and will help you sort all of the creditors out. The'll also set you up a repaymnet plan which you can afford and deal with the creditors for you. These are free charities so they won't charge you a penny. Sorry if the others have suggested this already, I haven't read all of the replies (sorry guys).:A

Hello everyone again
This is just a quickie to say I have been working on my SOA today.
Its coming together but was a bigger job than I realised.
I have never worked out before whats coming in and going out.
Had real trouble working out the APR's that Southernscouser mentioned in that sticky thing.
Effective rates , simple rates, monthly rates, annual rates and cash and purchase rates - all different too.
I am getting there and will post tonight.
Thankyou so much everyone.
I feel overwhelmed by you encouragement and kind words.
The relief of sharing is massive.
bye0 -
oh twitcher
well done on your soa it can be quite overwhelming cant it.
Yes, you are definatley in the right place, people here 24-7 (although right in the middle of the night things are a bit slower) but usually someone here to help - or just moan to
All the best, we'll get you there xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Although it may seem daunting, the SOA when completed will give the wonderful people on DFW chance to give you the best advice they can - and what is great about it is that they are not patronising, and they won't judge you.
They will simply see how they can suggest things that may help you, based on your circumstances and based on their experiences. After all, most of us have been there to some extent or other.
