Hi again, don't know what area you are in, but there should be a training Provider that specialises in helping people in receipt of IB, back in to work...thare are usually bonuses available, and help with interview costs etc......there are branches of Instant Muscle who do this nationwide, but if you ask at the Jobcentre they will be able to guide you. Good luck, your Lady is certainly a lucky one. x

    Hi pania (and everyone !)

Hope I can answer some of you queries from post 25

I have a couple of further questions of my own too.

Of course I forgive you for asking me !

    Please feel free.

    1. re the mortgage...... I have not yet shopped around for a remortgage of the 39k.
    CCCS suggested John Charcol.
I phoned them up and they said I must speak to my current provider - Nationwide.
So I did and they cannot do a thing because I am on a payment holiday until end of September..
The 3 separate amounts are all on the same rate - the standard variable interest rate.
Then I may be able to arrange a new mortgage for the total amount either for the same term or over a longer period.

    2. house and contents insurance - looking at this, thanks

    3. Never heard of quidco before - will check it out.

    4. Yes Virgin media IS my tv phone and broadbandand yes I am looking at a lesser package.
I WILL give sky a call and find out their prices.
I guess I am going to have to be a bit cheeky from now on.

    5. The hospital fund is something I pay into which pays my optical and dentist fees - up to a point anyway.

    6. The laundry, home and personal care I WILL be able to trim.

    7. I have looked at ebay and amazon but never really used them.
But yes that is a good idea.
I have heard of an ebay business before but I think it would affect my benefit.

    8. Do I still need to book an apointment with the citizens advice bureaux if I am going with CCCS ?

    9. I have set up a separate bank account today with a bank I don't owe money to and I will arrange for my benefits to go into this.

    10. I just posted the credit limits and minimum payments on my cards.

    11. My loan company is Barclays and they will take the £145 from my overdrawn bank account on Tuesday 12th by DD.

Thankyou SO much pania for all your help.

I think someone will be along shortly to show you how to tart and to snowball.

You can have a look at https://www.whatsthecost.com inthe meantime. Put the debts with the highest APRS in first and then watch what happens.

the idea of tarting is that you pay of the credit cards with the most expensive debt, with the cads with the lowest APRs, up to their limit. So £450 space on the Lloyds TSb is used to pay off one of the Barclay cards. Concentrate on one only and pay the minimum on the other, as that way you will eventually kill off the highly expensive cash APR on one card, rather then paying it on both for ages. Do you know which has more Cash on it? i reckon you have about £4400 space on your other cards, which even if it is only 3% less expensive would help you reduce the minimum payments the next month.

    Another thought or two.

There is e-bay and there are E-bay businesses. Quite different

If you sell stuff that you have lying around the house, then that is fine with the benefits people and the tax man.

If you start buying stuff to sell on e-bay, that is a business and you need to sell the benefits people and the taxman.

Also do you have a room that you could let out to a lodger? i do know if that would hit the IB, but it would be tax free upto about £4,500 per year.

Also have you heard of https://www.freecycle.com. A great place to get stuff that other people are giving away free; white goods, clothing, computer kit, all sorts. Join your local group and see what turns up.
