    According to this article....

    http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/Cashback_bill_reaches_25_million.html?terms=cashback&fragment=&SearchType=&terms=cashback

...TMO stopped trading in November! If that's the case why is their website still up and running?

    Plus this quote:

"Company boss Attif Ashraf said customers would not be paid ‘unless somebody steps in’.

He said: ‘We were working on a 40% redemption, just like the rest of the market. There are going to be people saying we ran off with their money but it’s not the case.’"

Does anyone buy that? They had been in business long enough to learn the true redemption percentage...

Anyone doing the minimum amount of research on The Mobile Outlet even 2 years ago would have easily discovered how bad they always were.

I did some research (obviously not enough and I'm the first to admit that) but it seemed to me that ALL retailers offering cashback deals had lots of unhappy customers and MO didn't seem any worse. I put this down to the fact that people who get their cashback don't post about it on the boards and most people who were complaining had not actually followed their T&C to the letter! But yes, I knew it was a risk and it's not paid off.

I'm yet to call T-Mobile and ask them to reduce my tariff but from what I read here, I'm not very hopeful. There is a glimmer of hope for me (which I'm offering you the chance to pour water over) and that's MO T&C 10.1 "Any Bluetooth headsets offered in conjunction with any mobile phone offer are sent with the mobile phone or within 14 days of delivery of the handset. If this headset is not delivered within a reasonable time, you have a right to cancel your contract." Well despite several emails, MO never sent the headset that was offered as part of the deal.

Is there any chance that this will get me out of my T-Mobile contract?

Thanks for all the posters on this thread, it's become addictive reading!

Maybe TMO stopped paying in November, they are still an active trading company with the Companies House today!

It looks more like they stays in business by not paying at all...

  • hotb:- Not all dealers were THAT bad - IF you knew what you were doing. I am continuing to get 12 month free deals on a regular basis for myself and others - I may well grab another in a week's time if the offer is good enough (last one was three weeks ago so unfortunately I have to wait until then). HOWEVER, The Mobile Outlet has ALWAYS had almost universally BAD feedback on here ever since I started researching (and I DO research a LOT!) almost three years ago.

I'm not sure where you'd stand with the cancellation option now; I somehow think you'll have difficulties but if I were you I'd contact the network immediately to push for that. I would alsop refuse the bluetooth if they try to placate you that way, but T-Mobile isn't exactly sympathetic in these situations as you've discovered. Basically, it's a bad choice of dealer AND network (though you weren't to know about the network part then!).

I wasn't saying that I believed the quote - just that this is what is being reported in the "press".

Yes, we have been aware of that for a very, very long time now.....LOL

Various County Court judges have "stepped in" but I and many others still aint been paid...

I would like to see a full and thorough investigation into TMO's activities by the appropriate agencies ......perhaps they could even resolve the "cheques lost in the post" phenomenon....

Yes, it's true. I had cashback from The Mobile Outlet 2 years ago and they did pay all of them and on time even! Did read some complaints but most seemed to be people not following the rules very strictly.

Recommended it to a friend at the beginning of last year who's now been burned by these recent developments... I did warn her it was risky, but from risky to no payments at all well...

Fortunately I still think she's still my friend :)

yes your next step is the baliffs but it will cost u a fee. and by the sounds of it tmo are folding.

so going for the baliffs option is useless!

dont waste your money, read previous posts. The bailiff that deals with tmo has over 100 warrants against them, tmo are no longer paying these, they claim they have no money!! tmo office has also been shut.
