who says they would be? 10 miles is not local. It was billed as jobs for the borough. I am amazed there was over 6000 people apply for all part time roles.

10 miles is local but it would be interesting to know what the breakdown actually is.

    Really? Local?

10 miles in London could be Tower Bridge to Ilford in Essex or Buckingham Palace to where I am - still not local at all.

Well I don't count 10 miles as local at all as it can cover over 4 boroughs in London. I must have been working 'local' all my life in London then haha

Oh yes and if you fail to get an interview you can not really apply for another job for 6 mths as the online assessment stays with your file for 6 mths unless you want to get numerous email addresses to apply for each job.

Yeah, that I don't agree with, I don't see why they need to shut potential applicants out if they're unsuccessful from one application. I'm guessing it's so people can't rage-spam their system, such is the world that we live in.

London's incredibly compact considering the sheer volume of what's shoved inside its boundaries. But 10 mile commutes in areas outside of London isn't really anything difficult at all.
  • Count yourself lucky. It really grieves me when I get an application form that expects me to list all my qualifiactions - with grades - and job experience. I've been working nearly 40 years; there's never enough room on the forms; each form is different, so I can't cut and paste and, worse, no-one seems to know what 'O' Levels are these days.

I know what O Levels are, as I have them :)

Actually it takes me 14 mins to go ten miles towards London on a train and 1 hour to 7 miles on a bus in the opposite direction. I am talking purely what they see as 'local' jobs for local people.
