Hardly, and no monthly payment. Google for Humax Direct. They have refurbished mangers specials.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

So it that a freeview box that works like a sky+ book & works with a satalite dish & offers a limited number of free channels?

No, its a Freesat PVR and gives you all the Freesat channels on the Freesat EPG, plus other satellite channels when set to non-Freesat mode. Just use your old Sky dish and LNB-nothing else is required. The one-off cost of the cheapest Freesat PVR from Humax Direct is £129: that's about 5 month's basic Sky sub, so it pays for itself in no time.

A Freeview box requires an aerial.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The talk talk deal is only an extra £9 a month. So that's over 14 months of subs.
Is it the same, apart from the ariel dish issue?

But as explained already, you'll still need a aerial to get TT TV, which will cost you around £100. It's Freeview with some extra on-demand features and a Freeview PVR box.
'Only £9' to watch Freeview? That's £108 pa. Your first year cost will be around £208 with the aerial cost-more than a Freesat PVR at £129.
There's no logic in going any other route than Freesat for what you require. If you already had an aerial, the same would apply to a Freeview PVR.

Too many DOGS on satellite TV. The curse of the Nexus Keyboard strikes agone :-)

    To break it down...

    1. Freesat - no subscription, buy your own box from £150. This gets you a range of free satellite channels and the ability to record them.

    2. Freesat from Sky - no sub, keep your existing box, but Sky turn off recording capability.

    3. Talktalk deal with an aerial - £100 aerial + £9 per month gets you recording of Freeview channels + access to VOD over broadband.

    4. Talktalk without an aerial - £9 per month gets you access to VOD channels over broadband. No recording, but Ch1-5 programmes are all there to view any time, anyway. This is the cheapest option by far, since you also save £145.50 TV licence.

We just moved to talk talk .Yes the youveiw can series link but doses it badly for example if you watch negibours you get it recorded on c5 twice then 5* and so on , CAn confirm you can only record freeview chanels not the on demand stuff . The cs are a bunch of a script monkeys with a bad script . Having said that you only use them if there is a problem .

The seasons free on tv gift were a nice surprise though

Series link doesn't sound very good!
What's your last bit about a free gift?
Why do you have talk talk rather than freeview? Everyone seems to be saying you can get the same thing for free? So I'm a bit confused???
