Does neutering male dog stop him pulling on lead?

That vet is just trying to make a fast buck. Disgraceful.
I'd move to another vet fast. Not just to get a second opinion. But also if the vet is prepared to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut over a training matter, then what will he do with something more life threatening and more expensive.
I hope the family re-think and move from this vet in the dog's best interest.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Unfortunately my dog was a rescue dog and I didn't get her until her until she was 5-6 so I didn't get to train her as a puppy. I'm hoping the progress continues with the halti as she doesn't like it, but it's either that or she will only get 1 walk a day, which I don't think is fair when she is used to 2. But I can't leave a baby at home unattended.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -

It's never to late to train a dog
Did you get her used to the halti before putting it on? If not, then it's not too late. Just start by putting the piece over her nose and treat her each time and repeat (you'll need lots of treats). Then gradually once she's happy with that you can try putting a little pressure on and again, treat. Next put the head piece on and treat. This needs to be repeated many times and frequently. If she is fed on kibble and likes her food, you can use this - and once she's happy with it on, then you can feed her with it on. You want her to associate it with good things so she's happy to wear it.
These aids are useful - I've used one myself on a foster dogs that pulled while I was suffering a bad back -they don't replace training but can make training easier if you are struggling.0 -
I hoped having my female dog spayed would stop her trying to mount my leg..... did it heck as like. No one elses leg just mine!

I'm referring to the dog having to go through a general anaesthetic and post-op discomfort...that's why I'm saying "poor dog"!
Are you sure? Using words like 'emasculated'...
Plenty of dogs are neutered routinely, they tend to get over it very quickly, and they never remember it.
This owner could have chosen to neuter him for lots of perfectly valid reasons, would he still be 'poor dog' then?0 -
My vet told me that I should castrate because it will prevent testicular cancer and prostate problems and keep the dog population down.
There was no mention of pulling on the lead. It is down to training. My dog gets really excited as soon as he is out the door. So I tell him in a firm tone "Wait... wait... wait" and he listens. I do walk him for several hours to knacker him out and stop him pull. I used to walk him every other day for 3 hours, I try and walk him for 3 hours one day and an hour the next and then 3hrs the next day and so on. This helps his pulling because he is used to the fact that he is going out.DEBTFREE AND PROUD!!0 -
