Does neutering male dog stop him pulling on lead?

We have a 19 month old chocolate labrador in the family who's just been carted off to the vet and neutered in the hope this will stop him pulling on the lead.
I know there are arguments for and against castration of male dogs but I never realised it would stop lead pulling!
This dog is not in the least aggressive or interested in lady dogs but he's a nightmare on the lead despite the use of a halti. He goes crazy when walked, leaping into the air and dragging with all his considerable strength - but how will castration stop him doing this?

Well I don't think it will. My previous dog was neutered and it certainly never stopped him pulling on the lead.
I have never heard anyone say neutering can stop pulling.
I have found with the dog I have now who is still only young that a harness with a ring on the back of the dog and one on the chest of the dog so that you use a double ended lead works well. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

That's what I thought. Apparently the vet said it'll calm him down and the urge to pull will disappear.
I never thought the presence of testosterone in a dog's system was what caused it to pull.0 -
It should calm him down a bit but not stop lead pulling - thats down to training I'm afraid.0

Honestly, some vets come out with the biggest load of nonsense sometimes.
In a few months time, when the dogs still pulling, I'd go back to the vet and demand a refund0 -
If he is pulling too much put him on a much shorter lead.
If that fails every time he pulls, stop and make him sit, eventually he will get the message and all it will cost you is time instead of costing the dog his dangly bits.0 -
I've suggested training would be a far better solution than chopping his bits off but naturally, I suppose, the vet will be listened to far more than me!
He will probably still be pulling like a train the minute he gets his lampshade thing off!0 -

Has the vet actually advised castration to cure this "problem"?Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0
