    YES!

But only until the anesthetic wears off :)
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

nope it certainly doesn't. In fact it may not change any behaviours. It CAN calm them down but not always.

Has the vet actually advised castration to cure this "problem"?

Yes he did. He said castration would calm the dog right down and thereafter the dog would walk serenely on the lead!

The poor dog was emasculated yesterday. Whatever the pros and cons of doggy castration, I can't believe for one minute that it's likely to stop him pulling on the lead!

It does make you wonder what some vets are thinking of when giving this advice? It's shocking!

The only things castration is guaranteed to prevent are... siring puppies & the very small risk of testicular cancer. Hoping for anything else is a lottery!

It's sad that a dog has had to endure a totally unnecessary procedure due to a misguided, professional, opinion.

To be honest I'd be changing my vet.
Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!

To be honest I'm amazed. Poor dog has had to go through all that...and for what? I'll bet he'll still be pulling to the best of his ability as soon as he recovers:( poor little fella

Fortunately, dogs don't really care about being 'emasculated', they don't have the emotional attachment to their balls that human males do. I don't think being neutered makes him a 'poor dog' at all.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Either the vet is a complete idiot or they just wanted money for a procedure which is not really necessary.

Neutering doesn't even always calm dogs down. I certainly know of quite a few that have stayed just as crazy after, a couple got worse!
The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie

I'm referring to the dog having to go through a general anaesthetic and post-op discomfort...that's why I'm saying "poor dog"!

Let's hope he doesn't get worse then.

He's almost impossible to walk at the moment. He would easily pull an adult male right over.
