Fantastic!! staff were so helpful and we got 4 flights from Newcastle- Miami in January for £1280.80, thats £320.20 each, which is a huge saving. We booked our seats and were also able to use our BA executive clubcards to gain partner points on these flights.

Tried to book from Newcastle with this promotion, was told I could only fly from London, Manchester or Glasgow with the offer. Quoted the fact that you had booked from Newcastle but they said unless I could provide info they could not progress. Can you just confirm that you did book under this promotion? Thanks.

    Lindsey,

Just rang AA again to check on flights as I was unable to book mine as intended the other week. They quoted me Newcastle to Fort Myers without a murmur - as they should because they are 'partners' with BA. Just a shame that they find it necessary to almost double their fee's when booking over the phone though. £155 compared to £83 online is a big difference. I decided to change my flight plan too. Had intended Ncl to Miami and returning from Fort Myers to Ncl but decided to book all the way through to Fort Myers outward bound too - cost me £1 more than the quote I had back in June. I think the Glasgow terror attack has caused prices to drop again as the airlines may be suffering from people cancelling or not booking. The last time I checked on my intended flight, online, it had gone up to £570 - now it has suddenly dropped down again.

Try ringing them on 0207 3650777 - this is the alternative to the 0845 number.

    Good luck,

    Christine

I just booked a return flight for one from Dublin to Houston, Texas today for £159.80 including airport taxes.

The online price was £238.00 plus £40.80 tax. I booked online and before paying, clicked on hold to get a reservation number and called to give the mastercard discount code. They tried to give me the phone line price discounted which was £193, but after 20 minutes of arguing they eventually agreed that the price was £159.80 and gave it to me for that price!! Just had my confirmation e-mail.

Not quite the offer as advertised. I too had far more taxes added on when telephoning to book. Spent nearly an hour on the phone but they would not match the online price including the discount.Base fare online was £92.50 but they have it showing as £52 so you get 50% off their displayed prices not the online.I tried and tried to get them to honour the online price structure but they wouldn'tStill a good price though.LHR to Boston £214.20 - My calculation was £174.40

Didn't realise this offer was still on. Don't know whether to give them a try. Would anyone recommend it?

I think it is available until the end of August. I think it's a great deal.

Had a lengthy conversation with a manager today on this deal

Turns out there website is incoreect - well sort of. Eg. on my new yrk flight the taxes show £81.40 online with a fare of £176 (£257 total). So i asked for 50% off the 176. After a lenghty explanation she said that the online price of £176 is the base fare of £95 plus the fuel tax at £81

Therefore the discount is only on the £95. That said because its under £100 they wont discount it!

Anyway - after a bit of whining she agreed so I got 4 returns to NYC for £209 each which isnt bad at all - and ive not found anything cheaper

So a saving yes - though not quite as much as theyd let you beleive
  • Martin said at the start that legroom was good on AA - that is no longer the case. A few years ago AA ran a big campaign "more room in coach" they removed a couple of rows of seats from all their aircraft to give 34 inches legroom in economy. Made then the most comfortable (for a reasonable price) way of crossing the Atlantic.

However - times are tough in the airline market and they recently (and without publicity) put the seats back in so they are now back to 31 or 32 inch.

That is still better than some charter but not as good as most scheduled. Also the AA fleet is now pretty old. If you can find out the aircraft on the route then Google for seatguru for more details.

I know this because I'm well over 6 foot tall and fly transtlantic 3 or 4 times a year !

  • Not too sure what

'AAdvantage mileage will accrue for the class of service on which the fare is based when you are ticketed, not for the class of service flown.'

    means.

Will we get the correct AAdvantage points or not on this offer, especially if we fly business (20% off)
