My, my, you are a curious person.

Just to satisfy your curiosity, I was working on Government surveys for more than 10 years, including the British Crime Survey, the DCMS survey, spending and household surveys, holiday and transport surveys, etc, etc, and as such including visits to every type of home all chosen at random and ranged from bishops palaces (yes really) to the most run down council estates where bodyguards were needed (yes really again).

Hope that answers your curiosity. :)

Thanks for getting back, I have had one of the British Crime Survey done a few years ago, but it was done in my kitchen, had no TV in there as its not big enough to take a tiny TV.
My TV was connected to the aerial on the roof then to of my block of flats in my living room. Just for the record I then had a full TV license, but when the council contractors disconnected me, I got in contract with the TV license company for a refund as I paid my TV license a year in advance, but I lost 3 months of it as they only make refunds in block of every three months. I made enquires about keeping my TV and they told me that there was no need to get rid of it thank goodness as I used it for wii games with my grandchildren sometimes.
I remember that Crime Survey well as you guys do not give up until it is done. It was winter time and the weather was awful as well. I ask the guy how they got my name for the survey but he never gave me a concrete answere. Also I remember the survey being very long, but the Survey man said that it was not as long as they the question that they asked people under 65. :):)

If the license people call to me perhaps they will go up the roof of the building are reconnect me as the council certainly will not do it. But I am not bother now if they do not reconnect me as I see it is not advantage for me to have it when I can do lots of other things instead.

Can you draw my attention to the part about assault, that bit I seem to have not observed but willing to stand corrected.

The assault dates back a few years. Easiest thing is to show you the video....

The figures aren't been twisted that's how much i'm saving along with having no TV licence, there isn't any aggro caused from not having one if you don't need one, it just means a number of letters will be sent out every so often and a visit form someone to attempt to check up on you.

I don't need to seek attention or counselling as I know I don't legally need one and the purpose of the message was about money saving which again is what the forum is about.

If you don't like the topic then don't respond to the messages, everything that has been discussed is above board and legal otherwise I wouldn't have posted

My apologies, yes you did mention the whole lot in the original post, just emphasised on the tvl bit, not how VM must be losing share price due to you cancelling the subscription, I'm sure they will also be writing with a view to you once again becomming a customer. Spend the savings wisely

The vid will not play on this pc, however it seems to be the exception rather than the rule, the 3 that have visited me in the past were not intimidating or threatening.

I would hope that it was the exception.

The real issue is the number of false accusations I have seen - and you wouldn't know until the TVL person had been & gone. Personally, I prefer not to entertain their adventure into Police statehood.

    From the linked article
In 2005, a visiting officer was convicted of assault against an Ormskirk resident who claimed he did not need a licence and started filming the officer. Two months ago an officer was convicted in Maidstone Crown Court of perverting the course of justice and four charges of false accounting after he fabricated confessions by four members of the public whom he hadn’t even visited, echoing an almost identical earlier case in Wales.
    Ready to stand corrected?
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Do I need a TV service if my tv is connected to my satellite dish which is pointed at the other astral satellite i.e no BBC channels? My wife is German and hence watches only German TV

You probably misread it - it's the Astra-1 satellite cluster, not "astral".

Also, you seem to have a "TV service". Maybe you meant "licence"?
I suspect it's "no" provided that she has a German TV licence.

Yes see post #64, 'you' make it sound like a common occurance, the reps that visited me were more interested in users purchasing a license than getting them prosecuted, but I suppose it depends on their targets or the area they are covering.
