I stand corrected, I forgot it's bbc radio that is funded by the license fee.0 -
You haven't read my post correctly then, I'm watching everything On Demand via my Xbox so no TV licence required
So long as you don't watch anything live... which is possible on the xbox. Some people still confuse on-demand via a IPTV device when it comes to live transmission.
For example on iplayer you can watch BBC channels as they are broadcasted in realtime.0 -
I'm not some people :rotfl::p;)0

You could still use a PC (or similar) to watch only Catch-up services and not require a TV licence.
If your device is not capable of showing "live" broadcasts, all the better, but it isn't a requirement.0 -
For information
from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_licence#Germany
As of 1 January 2013, the licence fee in Germany is now a blanket contribution of € 17.98 per month (€ 215.76 per annum) for all households and is payable regardless of equipment or television/radio usage.
Prior to 2013, only households and businesses with at least one television were required to pay. Households with no televisions but with a radio or an internet-capable device were subject to a reduced radio-only fee.
Apparently this new tax is collected as "an add" on via the German equivalent of our council tax.
When will UK follow??0 -
I dont have a tv either, stopped paying for a tv licence over a year ago and dont miss it, my mum also doesnt watch tv any longer.
On a low income and just couldnt justify the expense.0 -

Good way of saving money. I will have an extra £42 per month which will go to paying off some of my bills quicker than I was doing0 -
I cannot watch TV even if I wanted to as they council employee a contract for out block to look after the digital aerial and that costs us £4 a month for maintenance. The lovely contractors did not connect me to the aerial on the roof of the building and do not get TV at all. I gave up in the end and watch catch up on my laptop, it save money. I resent as do other tenants that do not even own a TV paying the council contractors £4 a month for nothing and there is nothing anyone can do about it as it’s their policy.0
