Night terrors are truly horrible things.
However, just because the terrors are about your boyfriend being hurt it doesn't necessarily mean that is what is troubling you. It could be anything that you are worried about in your life, as Marisco has said, you've had a health scare recently, that could have worried you more than you think.
During the day have a good think about whether there is something you're really so worried about but aren't allowing yourself to admit to. The terrors can been the minds way of forcing us to deal with things that we tend to stick our head in the sand about.
When I have suffered them before I have thought that I was coping fine during the day with what was troubling me, it wasn't until I got proactive and dealt with the issues I had that the terrors stopped.
I've had them a fair few times throughout the years, always I'm being murdered in my bed, always the setting is exactly how it is, it's so very realistic and very, very scary. I wake up screaming the house down, but the scenario isn'tactually what is troubling me IYSWIM, I'm really not frightened of being murdered during waking hours.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I use to be like this over my fiance, he worked nights so I use to make him txt me when he had got to work and when he got home from work so I knew he was safe, I had really bad nightmares of him dying in a car crash so I made him change car too
after 5 years he got made redundant and got a new job which was days but decided he didn't like it after a while so found the current job he is in which is nights again
He's a toolmaker I worry about all sorts happening to him

Theres nothing really on my mind, I am really worried about him at work. My health scare is on my mind and I do want him to come to my appointment in a few weeks but the nightmares are so clear that he won't be here

One thing that is always on my mind is the whole imbalance in money, but I don't think thats causing all this.0 -

I just want to contribute equally. but its not that whats upsetting me, I feel its the whole Im scared when he goes work.0 -
If you were awake then I'd be a more concerned! But if these are nightmares, even if vivid, then they are pretty much within the normal range of behaviour.
Many people don't dream with much clarity and when they do it feels very strange, but some people do dream with quite a lot of clarity. It can change over the course of your life.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't have a word with your GP if the problem persists though. This isn't an insanity situation but it is sleep and psychology related.
As has been pointed out, often the worries in dreams are not directly about the subject matter.
But hopefully the responses on this thread make you feel calmer within yourself, as they have all been pretty much in agreement. That might well make a difference in itself.0 -
Sounds potentially like a type of OCD - maybe speak to your doc about it?

I was thinking of asking if I could go with him one night, if I see that theres nothing to worry about then it should make me better?0

Do it. You might even like it. My dad has been a lorry driver all his life. I used to love going with him over the 6 week school summer holiday as a kid abroad. It was like an adventure.
I can sympathise about you sitting at home worrying about him. Honestly its not that bad. Apart from idiot car drivers cutting you up occasionally or thinking they can break test 40 tons worth of metal, its fine, as on a car vs truck scenario, truck will always come off best.
And nowadays, your very safe in a modern MAN, Volvo etc. Safety and technology has come a long way. Watch this clip:

My advice from experience is go with him for sure. Its an adventure and not nearly as scary as you make out. It will put your mind at rest

I haven't a clue what he drives. I know its massive (He has shown me a picture of massive lorry). Ive been thinking, because of the type of company he works for I don't think they'll let me go on the lorry with him will they? nor will they pay for me to travel with him to europe (next month He is going to Germany so itll be worry central)0
