Its not about seeing them it is about seeing them earlier and it and it has been proven that cars with lights on are seen/registered quicker by the brain than a car with no lights on.
I do not personally have my lights on during the day but I do not see how it could annoy anyone by doing so.
What about when it's raining?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
First bus introduced the requirement that headlights be used at all times when on a public highway at least 9 years ago since then many others have followed their example. Since introducing this extra safety measure RTC's have decreased as it is claimed that the use of headlights makes vehicles more visible.
Well a bus company - so no more!0 -
Some vehicle manufacturers have opted for the headlights to come on when the ignition is on rather than have DRL's. The 2012 VW Polo hire car i had was one of these.
Traveling Europe the last few years it's a legal requirement in some countries as already mentioned.
I'm surprised the OP drives, has internet access and doesn't know this already though. All your base are belong to us.0 -

i can see there is case though still a bit stupid - as someone said earlier will we next have to have high vis jackets/
I'm agreeing with you. In good light/weather conditions, they are un-necessary. I mean, we have managed without for many years!
BUT dipped headlights should always be used when it's moderately raining. Rule of thumb; if you need your wipers on 'constant' mode, you need your dipped head lights on.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only.
