Someone is evading someone...Taxman? Mortgage company? Housing benefit? It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Yep... The reason she insisted that Sky was in her name was to ensure there wasn't any proof of anyone else living there.:hello:0

I think as the friend insisted that the Sky contract be in her name rather than the OP's, she should not get out of this scot-free.
I think most of us think we know why she has done things in this way - unofficially renting and no tenancy agreement - she's probably not got the OK from her mortgage company and has almost certainly not declared this income.
She has made things difficult for the OP by her decision to be less than honest.
If the friend can't or doesn't want to move the Sky contract to the house she's living in now, I think she should contribute towards the termination fee.
This sounds like a very good suggestion for an amicable resolution if it's possible:mountainofdebt wrote: »well why don't you offer to transfer it to your new place, under her name?
Then when the tie in is over cancel the contract that's in her name and start one in your name.0 -
The plan is to register the Sky at my friends new address and just move the box to my new address.
Officially you cant but I am sure I will be OK!..0
