tbh I would forget the issue of what she's included in the £650 - presumably you were happy to pay that so that issue is neither here nor there.

As for the cancellation fee personally I think you ought to pay it - you are having the 'benefit' of sky you wanted it in the property and presumably if you had had it your name then you would have had to pay the cancellation fee.

For whatever reason she wanted the bills /sky in her name I think you're trying to wriggle out of paying on a technicality

If I had it my own name then I would had taken the account to my new place and then there would has been no need to cancel. That's what I am wanting to do, but sky don't allow name changes on accounts.

I Knew this problem would happen. I did say to my mate if it had been in my name I would be able to transfer it to my new address with no problems. I currently pay £650 a month and that includes bills. Unfortunately I don't know how much the mortgage payment is. Surely some of the bills will be cheaper in the summer would be able to absorb some of the fee.

It depends how your friend pays her bills. All of my household bills are paid by monthly direct debit and the payments are spread evenly over the year. So for instance with utilities I am in credit through the summer and then this covers the higher usage over the winter months.

With regards to the termination fee with Sky, personally I think you should just split the cost between. You have both had the benefit of it.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

well why don't you offer to transfer it to your new place, under her name?

Then when the tie in is over cancel the contract that's in her name and start one in your name.

That's another suggestion, because Sky wont care where she will be living full time.

The person who wanted the Sky installed in the first place should pay the termination fee. If she did and didn't want it anymore she should have cancelled it when she moved out.

Neither of you can call the other a friend - you both seem to be in this for your own interests. Friends don't try to have each other over.

Ah, but sometimes they do, and it is then that you finally realise that they are not a friend.
It is surprising how often this happens, and it never ceases to surprise me.
It has also happened with relations, who have tried to cheat us, and are then surprised when we break off relations with them.
I sometimes wonder if it is the media - television soaps and the like, which make some people believe that they can treat others like dirt.

Sky was installed whilst I have been living here solo. However she refused for my name to be registered at the flat. If it was in my own name then there would be no need to cancel. I could have took sky with me to my new house.

Well i'd still pay it even though it was taken out in your friends name in that case.

Business is business I guess. Because the other argument is that she is charging the same rent throughout the summer months. What I meant is charging the same bills ect....

I just cant want wait to get my own place and everything in my own name. Its a difficult one I know!

It sounds like you've made your mind up already....

IMO you should pay the termination fee, you wanted Sky in in the first place, and you've had the benefits of it.
