    Busmumofthreeplusdog - wow not sure how you do it - have found aloo dum recipe.

    Aloo Dum.

    Does that look about right? I think I may use the simple version mentioned. Sounds delish.

  • Good Morning :hello:

    Just a quick in and out from me this morning :D

    DP is starting to have the morning *grumps* again. It's too wearing having niggly discussions first thing in the morning :(

    I was going to get some mushrooms from mrAl today (S6), but not sure if timings will work out. May either have to get DP to get them, or forgo.....

    Dinner this evening will be a Buddha bowl.

    Thanks for popping in, reading and joining in. I greatly appreciate it. THANK YOU :D

    See y'all later.

    Good Evening :hello:

    Upsidedown Bear - I love the smilie of the day - it takes me back to a happy day this (glorious) summer past, in a garden, in the English countryside, watching and listening to happy, giggly children who put aside their I-pooters for a little while and made merry with some bubbles :D

    And BAH! to morning grumps indeed! I did get an apology tonight and he's going to do something about the one matter that he was getting niggly about, so :T

    Can't claim a NSD today. Managed to get the mushrooms from mrAl - beginning to dislike that shop more and more. I know ours is having a 'facelift', but it looks and feels like a jumble sale and the aisles are too close together for how many shoppers are in their store. In addition, I see that they appear to have ditched any discernible 'best before/use by' dates on some of their produce - mushrooms, I can't find it, and a quick glance at the tomatoes in the S6 yielded a similar blank. I realise that the dates have been contributing to food waste, but used properly, they can be a useful guide as to how 'old' the produce may be. I've bought stuff that has lasted well past it's 'best before' date, I have also seen produce - in a variety of shops - that is well past it, despite the packaging saying that it is good for another week yet....... With everything packaged, you can't always spot mouldy bits, or smell decay (although you can if tatties or onions have disease - phew!)

    I bought a Swedish Turnip that was Scottish in origin - why do I find that amusing??? :rotfl: #sillyauldthing :D

    Dinner this evening was an epic in terms of prep - and most of it was already done or used a machine :eek: And I am grateful that DP pitched in with washing up - as I'd have had zero counter space on which to work :( So tonight, Dear Reader, we ate 'Pati Selsig Morgannwg' Buddha Bowl :D

    :wave: The Principality :D

    Readers who are welsh-speaking and understanding, will hopefully know that we had 'Glamorgan Sausage Pattie' Buddha Bowl - but given that I'll admit to using goggle translate, I may have just given you directions to the chip shop via the cemetery.......... :o

    I know that Glamorgan sausages, are usually....... sausage shaped, but I figured that it was a bit of a faff, and decided to make them into tiny burgers instead. These were done in advance and frozen. The recipe that I 'looked at' for inspiration can be found HERE, and you will see that it also inspired the other 2 aspects of the Buddha bowl - winter slaw and brown sauce. For the 'grain' aspect of the meal, I had seen a recipe on Heidi's blog at 101 cookbooks, for roasted cauliflower. This is quite a 'fashionable' way of cooking cauli - and I had been resisting trying. But I figured I needed to use up the cauli I had got YS'd last month (B/B 29th October....), and I could whip up a crumble to use the other shelf in the oven. So I used most of Heidi's ideas, in the recipe HERE, but I didn't use toasted hazelnuts, as I incorporated in some toasted, cooked buckwheat and as this has a 'nutty' taste, it did the job of providing the carb and making a nice base. Heidi's recipe for roasted cauli is a winner - I'll use it again. The orange gives it a lovely winter/Christmassy vibe. Pic here;

    You can see that my HM coleslaw is pink, due to the use of red cabbage. Tasted nice though :D The 'patties' were lovely. I winged the quantities, and only used 1 small egg to bind - as there is not enough moisture to hold everything together otherwise. And the star of the patties was the cheese - why is Caerphilly cheese so over-looked? It's lovely and tasty. And so crumbly. Honestly, it was like using a top quality feta. I got mine from mrS and it was in the one for £2 or 2 for £3 offer at the time. I shall look forward to using the rest of the block - as I used about 100g off the 250g block. And some got lost to research.......... :o But don't overlook Caerphilly cheese folks - it's lush! :D

    You may also just be able to see that in between the grain/cauliflower layer and the HM winter slaw layer, there is a few leaves of rocket - just for a bit of a peppery bite, and Heidi is always putting rocket or pea-shoots in her creations, so I decided I wanna too :cool:

    I would make everything on the plate again. Not sure I'd team it as a Buddha bowl, but tonight's BB was supposed to be the deconstructed cabbage rolls Buddha bowl, from Leanne's 'Good & Cheap', but I used the sausages in an 'emergency' pasta dish last week :o So the Glamorgan sausages were still there to be used up.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    that DP has got over his grump and seen that action! is the way forward :D

    for receipt of an e-mail from someone that hadn't seen me for a while, and just wanted to know if I was ok :D

    for the humble brassica family - YUM! :D

    Thank you so very much for popping by, reading, commenting and leaving cheerful smilies. Mucho, mucho appreciated. Diolch yn fawr :D

    See y'all later.

  • Sorry GP. Consider this post spam as I am posting so that the ridiculous mobile MSE takes me to the last page. I type as I sit easing about yoghurt made a year and a half ago :D I highly doubt the mobile site is sophisticated enough to let me edit my post either so hugs to all for anything happening! X

  • Good Morning :hello:

    Aiming for a NSD today - don't think that there is anything that we need.

    Friday night (this week) is 'pizza night', so will be shoving that in the oven with some HM oven chips later.

    See y'all later.
