  • Gave me a proper jolt to *hear* about Rosieben, GP.

    She was a lurker who thanked almost every one of my diary posts without ever saying a word. Bless her. Hope she RIP x

  • Hi GP. And hugs. X

    Busmumofthreeplusdog - wow not sure how you do it - have found aloo dum recipe.

    Aloo Dum.

    Does that look about right? I think I may use the simple version mentioned. Sounds delish.

  • Good Morning :hello:

    Thank you, everyone for your supportive posts. I really do appreciate it.

    cheery - fab to *see* you as ever :D

    Busymumofthreeplusdog - thanks for dropping by and for the recipe suggestion :D

    Hopefuljoy - thank you. I'm glad that I got to the bottom of what was upsetting me - it made the funeral a much more 'present' experience too. I've got closure I think [although it's a horrible phrase!].

    Well, here we are at Wednesday. Needless to say the week is whizzing.

    Today could well be another NSD. There is nothing that we need or want. So unless something fabulously YS'd drops in my basket, I could snag a NSD :D Although I could go purse free I guess.

    Dinner this evening is going to be another curry. It's a new recipe to me. Not sure it's going to be so different to other curry recipes I've made, but in the spirit of trying new things........ :D

    Have a great day one and all - and THANK YOU :D

    If you've popped in, read and/or commented - ta. It means so very much to me :D

    See y'all later.

    Why? WHY? - Don't tell me I've made another faux pas of translation and it means something entirely different over t'other side????? :eek:

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    I'm just waiting for the rice to cook and for DP to be ready before I dish up for dinner.

    Cheery made me think today (:wave: to Cheery - and thanks luv :D) - regarding a conversation that was going on on Pippilongstocking's thread about names. Actually, real-life names, but I freely admit to being 'bad' for shortening people's names, and I do realise that for some people, this is annoying. I have only once in RL been picked up on it by someone - and actually, I was thinking about that today, he also picked everyone else up on it, who shortened his name, so he definitely preferred to be referred to as 'David' than Dave. I was giving some thought to why I do it, and why I tend to shorten some people's usernames on here too. Online, it is difficult to convey body language in a posting. I try (successfully or otherwise) to inject tone into my posts, and one way I do this is to try to be informal, rather than formal. So when I'm trying to be kind/friendly/caring/compassionate, I may well use a shortened form of someone's name in an attempt to convey this.

    I also think that I have developed a closer *talking* relationship with some MSE'rs, so *chat* to them as *chums* - informally [since I'm unlikely to have an in-depth, heart-to-heart on a public forum - however much I like/admire a fellow forumite! :D] In RL, I can't think of anyone who's name I shorten, and yet deal with entirely on *formal* terms...... :think:

    But I do shorten names, and it may annoy people. So if you don't like that I shorten your username - please tell me. I don't do it to annoy anyone and I'm happy to use your full username. I'm also happy to accommodate whatever derivation supersaver and liltdiddlylilt's 'autocorrect' function has come up with this week! :rotfl: :D

    Right, DP is ready, so time to dish up.

    See y'all in a bit.

  • Thanks GP - knowing you, knowing me, aha!

    Trip to MrLs this morning, just a couple of days then the countdown to payday begins. This month it falls this side of the last weekend which is a bonus. I'm not sure if we'll make it without dipping into reserves, but I'll try my hardest. Some inventiveness will be required, but with my reserves it should be possible to not use the cc. :T

    Instead of the weekend roast I think we'll be having an Indian banquet again. Then eggs and pasta in between. Plus I must make the impossible quiche and a GP style Pizza is called for.

    I'll be looking back over GP recipes for some frugal tasty food ideas - I need to compile my liSt for days when ideas are hard to come by.

    Sorry I seem to be blathering on your thread, at least it's not about money, money, money.

    Good Evening :hello:

    I managed a NSD today :j And I was 'with purse'........... ;)

    I walked through M&$ today. Gosh, that shop is getting more and more like a rummage sale every week. There are so many rails of clothes, already blocking the access to stairs and the foodall, and they'd stuck another row of sale tack in front of that today! If ever there is an emergency, or a fire, it is going to get very ugly, very quickly. I wonder whether stores could be held liable under health & safety. Mind, I don't know how many times folk have complained online about shop entrances being cluttered etc and m&$ seems to take no notice. Still, it also makes it unappealing to go hunting for anything to purchase, so it's a MSE dream! :D

    I also wandered into a gift shop. I saw some 'C' mas themed paper napkins and idly wondered how much they cost. I didn't find the napkins, but did find a bicycle bell (I need a new one, folks can't hear my 'ping ping' one, to let them know that I am behind them), it was very nice, but at £32.50 :eek: it stayed on the shelf...... can't have a bell that is more than you paid for one of your bikes :rotfl:

    Dinner this evening was a very simple curry recipe. I wasn't expecting anything great, but actually, it was very nice - DP really liked it - I suspect as it was a sweeter curry with coconut milk in it. The recipe Easy Coconut Currywas straight forward. I did adapt it though, to what I had - so I didn't use Quinoa, but accompanied it with rice and threw a handful of lentils into the curry to 'up' the protein content. I added a tbsp. of minced ginger, as I felt a slight tickle of a dry throat, so thought I'd try to head it off at the pass...... :D And I have no maple syrup, so used a squirt of golden syrup, and used coconut powder, rather than tinned coconut milk. I got a simple curry powder mix recipe off the internet yonks ago, so I just make that up each time a recipe calls for 'curry powder'.

    Picture here;

    006_zps9a280b2d.jpg

    I'll keep this recipe. It is simple and quick to put together, and as you can use a variety of veggies, it is good to use up those bits and bobs at the bottom of the fridge or freezer. I also used up a v. large sweet potato that I'd got YS'd in a bag from mrM.

    It also struck me, that you make like the recipe for the Indian Eggplant (Aubergine) curry that I made on Monday night. It's not a keeper of a recipe for me, but that takes nothing away from it's simplicity and good entry level curry. Also, if you have children that are getting interested in cooking, and they like curries, then these 2 recipes would be worth making to see if you could ditch the Saturday Night Takeaway or not :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    for people that make me think :D

    for people that make me laugh :D

    and for quick, simple recipes :T

    Thank you for popping in, reading and commenting - although I draw the line at folk singing to me....... :rotfl:;)

    See y'all later.
