Hi, have been AWOL this weel, as l went on a jolly to York with fave cos. We had a lovely time, too. I almost didn't go, as, on Sunday evening l went into one of the spare bedrooms to store some stuff, happened to look up, and was horrified to see a huge wet dip in the ceiling, and mould and stuff.!!!!! Big bro was summonsed and we discovered a very wet area in the loft and daylight in the roof.
Builder friend was summoned, he looked, and sucked his teeth, said 'l'll do it tomorrow, first thing. But just in case the ceiling cant take the weight, l'll cut a hole in it.' This he proceeded to start to do, and a great bit of it fell out and brought loads of carp with it, I was stood in the middle of it, looking like Dido in the ruins of carthage.
Anyhoo, true to his word, he chased me off to York, and l came back to find it fixed, and cleaned up. Plasterer comes tomorrow, and then it will need papered and redecorated.
So l haven't felt like posting, even tho l have read back a bit.
GP so sorry you have had a rough time, my condolences to you. xxxx0 -

I wish I could get Caerphilly, it's my favourite, well it would be, I was born about 7 miles away.
Lancashire and Cheshire are somewhere near it.
Nos da i chi.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Good Morning :hello:
Lilt - I really hope that you can sort out your 'pooter problems - can't countenance the thought of you not being able to post until into 2015
silvasava - I love that the smilie has taken on a new dimension as a 'custard wrestling' smilie :rotfl: Lovely to *see* ya. Ta for popping in
mrsinvisible - Lawks! That was a lucky spot with the ceiling. But thank heavens you have folk who can do a great job for you :T to your Bro and Builder :T I'm so glad that you had a fab time in York - is it decked up ready for Christmas yet - or did you go before they did? It's been a sad time, but I'm pleased that I got my emotions worked out. I think that I was a better friend, reflector and supporter at the funeral because of it. Others were, understandably, still at the very raw stages, not even at the angry stage. All wholly understandable - as they were close to the deceased - but as a human being, you just want to make it all better for them in an instant.
moneyistooshorttomention - lovely to see youHave lived there and have connections
Only know a few key terms myself, but do understand a little bit more written down than I can write/spell/speak meself
But it is the first time (I think) that I have ever made a Glamorgan Sausage recipe, so I thought a little 'fanfare' was in order
Upsidedown Bear - I hope that getting to know - 'Araf' and 'Heddlu' were not connected in any way........ :rotfl:
mcculloch - I'll admit, the Caerphilly cheese I used was only stuff in a packet from mrS. mrA are supposed to do it as well (although it does not appear to be stocked in my local one) and I see that mrT and mrW are supposed to stock it on their deli counters. Again, that is undoubtedly location dependent. What I find really sad is that it would be easier to pick up a slice of brie, gouda or a slice of monteray jack than it would be to have our own native cheeses. And I'm willing to accept that unless you buy cheese that has actually been made by an artisan cheesemaker, you are only getting a 'version' of the cheese anyway - but that holds for many of the continental cheeses too, they are made in a factory in industrial quantities, with no relation to the cow/sheep/goat milk that they are created from. I really don't know why Caerphilly has gone 'out of fashion' (I'm sure it got mentioned on a food programme), because, as you point out, it has the characteristics of Lancashire and Cheshire (love them both too), but it is distinctly different enough from them at the same time. And I think that it crumbles much better too
I grabbed a NSD yesterday :j
Dinner last night was pizza and wedges. The pizza looked very non-descript, but funnily enough, it is one of the most 'expensive' that I have made in a long time. It was a '3 cheese' pizza (Cheddar, Leicestershire and Caerphilly), and the cheese would have been about £2 in total. So you could get a 'cheese & tomato' pizza for much less money...... but my! It was oozy, gooey and all round scrummy, and the Caerphilly is packed with flavour, so it is going to be yummy to eat cold too :j Pic here;
The wedges are from the 25kg bag of Wilja potatoes that I got. I guess I've used up 3/4 of the bag now. The rocket salad was a bit of 'ponce' as I had some. Unfortunately, I think that it was in the vinaigrette for a little too long, so it looks a little limp....... tasted like it should though
I suspect had we had such a meal at a pizza 'chain' we would easily be looking at £10 a head, so I'm probably still up budget wise
Today will be a spend day and we will also miss most of the football matchcould be sad and tape it I guess.........
Dinner this evening is going to be the mushroom take on Heidi's Californian Barley Bowl - so a glorified 'orzotto'
Thanks so much for popping by, reading and utilising the welsh languageAll good
See y'all later.
