  • I think GP must be having a break. I had one a little while ago me self, sometimes RL calls too loudly.

She would be very proud of us all though for keeping the thread going and I made me lovely indian banquet on Friday. Well not really a banquet but delish all the same. Tarka Dahl for our main, plus basmati rice. Then I make HM Peshwari naan breads - which we absolutely love - then a lovely carrot salad, which is essentially grated carrot, of course, plus a bit of grated onion, one deseeded finely chopped green chilli, coconut, sultanas, fresh coriander, lemon juice and salt. Then I blob some mint sauce in some Lidl yoghurt for a dip, find out the mango which is somewhere at the back of the fridge and hey presto a yummy comfort food meal. We occasionally make samosas or onion bhajees if we have someone over as a very special treat, buts it all really cheap as chips. I must do a costing because I bet it's a fraction of eating out - I'd love to find a more economical mango chutney though.

Sunday we ate at the outlaws, so were stuffed to the hilt and are now cutting down this week, so have started on the salad, although I do want to try the impossible quiche later this week.

I've also got me huge bag of lentils, 3kg of pasta, 25kg of potatoes and half a tray of eggs to use. It's great to have such a stock of food in, I feel like a little dormouse ready for the winter now and just need some inventive ideas. I'm sure I've seen huge bags of carrots somewhere. Does anyone know how long they keep for. I'd also like to bulk buy my onions but not sure if they'd last. I know Mr L is pretty cheap but it's something we use a lot of in Supersaver Heightsland. :rotfl:

Have a good week all. Would love to see anyone's dinner pictures - I really need to get the hang of photo uploading.

Oh and according to DD spinach, eggs and milk are super foods - I was thinking of eggs florentine, never had it though, does anyone have a good recipe please?

    Good Morning :hello:
    Oh, My!
    Um........
I am perfectly OK. DP is perfectly OK. As is 'pooter :D
I am sorry that my going 'orf suddenly worried anyone. It surely wasn't my intention to do so :o
I was in receipt of some sad, and unexpected news last week along with short notice to attend a funeral, which I really wanted to attend... needed to attend. To show my love and support. The news knocked me sideways, I don't mind admitting :o I also couldn't fathom why it had hit me so hard.
I thought first of all, as the person was the same age as me, it might of been the *own mortality* thing. But really knew deep-down that it wasn't. And I was growing sadder and sadder.
Luckily, DP and I had planned a bicycle ride, and although the weather thwarted us to begin with, we were able to make that ride on Sunday. Remembrance Sunday.
At the start of the ride, DP and I bickered like a couple of toddlers in a nursery sandpit. Lots of things went wrong. Including my chain deciding to *fall off*
    #wronggearatthewrongtime :o
But we eventually got underway and reached a lovely spot by 11am. There was silence, contemplation, remembrance and even anthemic singing, as we were at the side of a rugby club :rotfl:
But still I couldn't shake my sadness.
DP agreed that as we had cycled that far, we could continue on another couple of miles to the end of the trail, making it the full 11 miles each way. Even though, at this point, he gave up the chance of seeing the motorcycling racing live :o:A
At the end of the trail, I saw it. I saw what it was that was 'missing' and why I was sad. I was able to do my mourning and remembrance right there, in the cathedral of the great outdoors.
As I left the house to attend the funeral yesterday, I glanced at the Holstee Manifesto that I have pinned on the noticeboard. My eyes fell on this line; "Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them."

    RIP *J* x

Normal Service, will (hopefully) be resumed this evening. Thank you for your patience. And in the meantime, I'll leave you with something that I spotted on Sunday... Love is everywhere you look...........
