Good Morning :hello: (well..... technically it was when I started writing.......)

How annoying, we were up with the larks, to ensure that we didn't miss one jot of the action in the motorcycling in Sepang, only to find that our telecoms provider, on whom we rely on to receive the programme, clearly can't cope with a change in the clocks! An error message kept flashing up, and even after following the 'remedy' from the 'help' section of the site, I couldn't get the programme to load :( How utterly rubbish :( Fancy being a global company, operating in differing time-zones and yet you get thwarted by the end of british summer-time...... Pffft!

    Moving on........

Well, we picked the right day to go gallivanting in the great outdoors. It is significantly more overcast, colder and a deal breezier here today than it was yesterday. I'm glad we checked the weather forecast :D

    Dinner last night was indeed curry. I made Aubergine Bhuna, which was inspired by Koolba which is at 109 Candleriggs in Glasgow. The recipe that I used was, as ever, based on Memorygirl's - links contained in this previous post. I hadn't got time to make anything 'new' as an accompaniment, so dug a small portion of Two Potato Vindaloo out of the freezer, which is a Yotam recipe, to be found HERE (ideally needs to be made 1 day in advance). Then I steamed some basmati to accompany. Picture here;

The wine choice was a south African Chenin Blanc, which is supposed to be a good accompaniment to dishes that have coriander and ginger in them - including Chinese cuisine too. It did work well, and I would have the wine again - £4.50 from mrA.

I've enjoyed my 'Saturday's are Strictly Curry Murray' I know that it is only a silly bit of fun, but I have learnt something about trying to match wines to curry. I think the only one that didn't really work was the Hungarian Pinot Noir - which, ironically, was the priciest..........The other 3 wines, I would buy again and match with curry dishes again. I have also enjoyed taking inspiration from the 4 curry houses of Glasgow that helped the city lift the 'Curry Crown' in 2013 - so thanks for the inspiration to; Mr Singh's, Mother India, Ashoka Southside and KoolBa :D

Dinner this evening will be a 'roast' - well, veggie 'Toad in the hole', which is about as near a roast din-dins as we get :D Roast tatties and parsnips will be involved :D

Upsidedown Bear - I hope you have a super-enjoyable day out.

Beanie - Keep warm! Definitely soup for lunch at Greying Towers :D

supersaver - I hardly dare ask..... what type of curry??? :rotfl:

Thanks so much for popping in, reading, commenting and joining in. Very much appreciated.

Right, I'm away to see what the Food Programme is on about, and to whip up a batch of soup and soda farls :D

    See y'all later.

You are making me h u n g r y ! ! l have had a bowl of fruit, apple, orange, plum, but totally uninspired, and l can smell the curry, l can almost taste the curry, l'm afraid that means l have to make a curry, roll on tea time.
Glad you had a good day out GP, l went out with DD yesterday, to collect our photos from our prize photoshoot, so as it was 30 miles away, we made an adventure of it and went to the SMs we usually can't get to, and the outlet centre. (we forgot to take our picnic, so we made do with a drink and a pack of crisps and had us picnic for tea. DD got a new winter 'anorak' for £25 -happy birthday, DD, (for, l think, 2019) !
I need to brave the gales and tempest and put out the bins, l tried teleporting them, but they were 'avin' none of it. xxxxx

    Hi Greying,
I always forget The Food Programme, radio reception is really poor here and I keep the kitchen radio tuned to local BBC station, if I want Radio 4 I listen in living room or bedroom, sadly I never seem to be in the right place for FP, must try to listen on Iplayer:)

Another Elaine recipe here, today's lunch was Oatmeal and Leek soup from a recent blog post, a nice change from Leek & Tattie.:D

Gosh, your cycle ride sound very energetic, many years since I rode that distance (slightly envious smiley required). Which reminds me to say that I am loving Upsidedown Bear's wonderful contributions, really cheering:D

Sorry you missed the motorcycling Greying :(:(

Had a nice time out including a visit to a coffee establishment that will remain nameless but it is very nice as a treat.

Nearly everyone else in MrS was buying monster pumpkins. I'm not sure I'd have been able to carry one.

    Smilie has found a friend.

mrsinvisible - teleporting dustbins would be a boon, eh? Imagine, you'd never have to go outside in the rain again - and they'd probably have an in-built stabilising device, to keep them upright in the wind too :D That would be useful :D Ah well, we can dream :) Did anything catch your eye in the 'other' SM's you don't usually visit? Any bargains, or must haves?

maddiemay - I was thinking of you this morning. I wondered whether you had yet taken delivery of your new 'Wendy House' on wheels? I think that you mentioned the end of this month...

The Food Programme was OK, I missed most of it. DP had the radio upstairs, but as he was painting/tidying, I could hardly complain could I? :D However, he was not listening to the FP, as it was discussing the presence of women in the kitchen/culinary world. Not entirely sure it would make a gal wanna grab a pan and cook up a storm, but still. Perhaps I missed the best bits?

I enjoyed the cycling, no doubt. The fresh air and exercise were very welcome..... and very much needed ;)

I saw Memorygirl's recipe - that's two recipes I've now got in mind for leeks...... the week after they were in the S6 :(

Upsidedown Bear - did you have a pumpkin spiced latte? :D I'm glad you've had a good day :D And that you enjoyed your treat :T Ref the new smilies, are they doing the Macarena, or are they waving for help, after walking onto a newly varnished floor?

Dinner this evening turned into black olive and tomato pasta. I didn't take a pic, I'm not going to insult your intelligence with a pic of pasta and pasta sauce :( Wasn't in the mood for a big meal, so will save that for another day.

I have snagged a NSD though - not left the homestead :j

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

for the memories we made this week :D

for store-cupboard staples - getting a bit end of month-ish at Greying Towers though...

for having sufficient for our needs today :D

Thanks for popping in, reading and joining in. Very much appreciated.

I think I may indulge in an early night.

    See y'all later.

No latte but I did have a apple & cinnamon duffin :j
Smilie says they are practicing doing a Friday wiggle for next Friday.
    Oh and he's back...

Wendy house lovely after a duff start:eek:, arranged to have 2 nights in Wales, 50 miles from home and then move on to Pembrokeshire for another 7, but electrics failed on new "home" early on day we should have moved on, so had to return to base and take it back to dealer, took a few days to sort, but we have just returned from 5 nights in the Malvern area and everything worked fine:D

I hope that Leeks will feature in the S6 again soon, I made a yummy bake with potato, 2 leeks, half a dozen 'shrooms, a couple of beaten eggs and milk and a sprinkling of grated cheese, I made it up as I went along and it was delish, will be a regular feature as a change from pasta bakes I think.
