  • Oh Busymumofthreeplusdog - it sounds wonderful - especially the clear blue skies and sunshine. We don't currently have that here :D:rotfl:

Sounds like a wonderful hols. Still impressed that you've time to drop in here :D:D:D

Isn't Maderia famed for it's flowers? Or have I got that wrong? Anything spectacular, given the more favourable weather conditions?

    Greying

Absolutely spot on Greying, gorgeous flowers everywhere. Apparently because of the various conditions from the hills to the coast anything can be grown here. I've certainly seen similar flowers to home as well as exotic blooms.

Oh it's gin o'clock then out for a bit more exploring, catch you all later xx

  • Greying, last night's toad in the whole looks mouthwatering and look at all those healthy veg and crispy roasties, yummy! OH says he doesn't like toad in the hole but I just showed him yours and he's converted. Must try it whilst he still has the 'feel good about it' factor :rotfl::rotfl:The day before yesterday was so cold we had a Gu!nness stew and finished it off tonight. It was lovely.

Lunch yesterday with dear FiL wasn't too bad, a couple of Par*cetam*l afterwards soon cured my headache :D When we got back to his flat he insisted on showing us things on the shopping channels (which he had actually recorded to show us )
Trouble is he has actually discovered how easy it is to buy things from there so you never know what he's going to buy next. I'm sure he has more halogen type cookers than Arg*s.

Regarding the cinema, I love to go when it's really quiet which I can do now I'm retired. Evenings are no no's but our local Ode*n does Senior Screen @ 11am 'ish on Thursday which is only £3.50 including tea/coffee and a biscuit. The downside is that I tend to miss many films I would really like to see as one showing a week is very limiting. Ice creams cost around £2.50 per scoop and I once paid £1.80 for a small bottle of water _pale_ Now I just take a bigger handbag :shhh:

I'm glad you enjoyed your film in comfort with lush ice cream. You actually saved a fortune!

    Have a lovely evening x

  • Good Morning :hello:
I'm afraid that the very fact that people munch, crunch and rustle their way through films now is the main reason I can rarely face the cinema. It annoys the bejasus out of me I'm afraid. :o if people want to eat while watching they darned well ought to follow your excellent lead and do it at home! :rotfl:

Oh, EH - I actually completely concur with you. Alongside the price - which was *only* about £5.50 last time we went  I'm turned off by folks crunching and slurping. And we've not even been in one of the 'pizza delivery' theatres...... The last couple+ of films we have seen in the 'arthouse' theatre have actually been kids movies. And we're sat at the back - with the mature generation, whilst the kids in birthday/Christmas groups are in the forward seats. Without fail, each time, you've had some boorish bloke (I haven't heard a woman say it), 'those children better behave during the film, if they start being noisy, I shall be complaining to management....' Said loudly so all their broadsheet reading chums can hear and agree. WITHOUT FAIL, each time, the children have been utterly enraptured with the film, Arthur Christmas, Ratatouille, Nanny McPhee and WITHOUT FAIL, there has been sweet package rustling, talking, slurping, wine spill kerfuffle or exit to 'the little room' from the *adults* - without fail!

    Anyway, hello Dear Reader :D

little_sweetie - I have to say, I'm glad that we've been able to delete all the *shopping* channels from freeview....... You have reminded me of my paternal grandfather though - pre-internet days, goods advertised in the back of newspapers were the thing.... he too was always sending off for some *wunder* thing or other that was going to transform living as we knew it :D

Well, yesterday disappeared in a blur. Again, very little went according to plan - and we did actually have a plan! We seem to have been thwarted and discouraged at every turn. Thing is, I'm majorly confused as to whether that is 'just life' and you suck it up and carry on, or whether the universe was trying to give us a gentle nudge to let us know that we were on the wrong path, and to 'hold up' and think again. *SIGH* :rotfl: However, DP did suggest a 'brain storming' breakfast meeting this morning to have a look at things again, and have a think...... so perhaps all is not lost :D And that suggestion in itself is progress :T so I've noted it, and smiled :D

We just had sandwiches to eat yesterday - I didn't cook. So no pics again. I've got to get my cooking mojo clogs back...... :( I need to give some time to thinking about menu-planning for May too. Try to come up with the 'magic key' to keeping deliciousness at a low cost. Mmmm. Let the fun begin :rotfl:

Right, well, I'd better shift myself. Take DP at his word and get some info together so that we can make the best of our meeting :D

I hope you have a wonderful day, whatever you are up to.

    See y'all later.

That just about sums it up dear Greying

You might notice the ungodly hour (for me anyway) at which I am posting this morning. I was up at ridiculous o'clock in order to take DH to work for 7am. I would normally let him take my car but I have so many errands this morning that I need it. I want to be back by lunchtime as DD & family are all coming for showers this afternoon. Their CH boiler stopped working a couple of days ago and all attempts to fix it have failed so they need showers. With 2 kiddies to keep clean and no hot water.....um, it reminds me of my childhood with a coal fire & back boiler :rotfl:It seems they will need to replace the CH boiler and remove a tank in the airing cupboard too which will not be cheap. With both of them on 'redundancy alert' (they work for the same company) things are looking a bit bleak for them :( We had a Team Sweetie chat this morning and agreed that our emergency fund might be needed to help them out. I think the chill of the morning assisted DH in his decision as they have no heating either

I hope that you and DP can get your own plans back on track, Greying. Things never run smoothly, so take heart. It will come right in the end.

Wrap up warmly & have a great day all x

Greying, it comes right in the end and probably better than originally planned. So don't get downhearted. Can you think of a single life changing plan of anyone anywhere on earth that went by the letter, by the clock and the paperwork? I suppose such things might happen but only if someone in authority is changing life for someone else and then not necessarily in a good way. There are always days in life that seem to drift and go nowhere, no problem, you didn't break a leg or anything :D

    Now where's the food? :D

Sorry I've been missing as you know I underestimated the work involved in bringing the boys home :D

Corrected for you Piq :D Plans are plans. They suffer from scope creep, budget issues, resource shortages, acts of god, acts of management  and all sorts of other issues.

They're an ideal route from A-B. Actually you are probably going A-Z via some (hopefully not all) of points B-Y. Keep focussing on the outcome you want rather than the way you are getting there. And if you change your mind on the outcome, you can revisit and revise the plan.

Goodness me I've not read back for so long :o And now I have, I still don't understand some things so maybe I haven't read back far enough! :o Sorry :o

But I noticed you said that some of your chums had accused you of waffling! The cheek!! Thinking through writing is an activity of the genius I reckon :D And I do so love to read what you write :)

Those finger rolls look ACE. I'm going to have another go at bread again soon - even with the breadmaker it fails more often than it works :o I was always a bit better at rolls though. I blame my ancient knackered oven :D

    And yay, Calamity Jane! :D
