A really lovely film, I could watch it time after time

Those rolls look tasty Greying. They would have been lovely with our salad tea tonight, our salad topped with home grown peppery leaves (says she with a smug expression
)
And YES let's have a Doris Day week .....(sings) "and it looks like it's climbing clear up to the sky"....thanks for reminding me satchmo :rotfl:

muddywhitechicken - lovely to *see* you. Golly your US trip has come round fast. I don't envy that journey though. We went from the UK to San Fran in a 'day' some years ago. I was on planet zog by the time we hit the hotel.
Good evening Greying

Good Morning :hello:
This is my second go at this post. Why does fate wait until you're at the end of your post to munch it?
I can see that we are going to have to have a 'Musicals' theme day - not just limit ourselves to 'Doris - day'
Igamogam - oh, I hope the sequel is done sensibly, and not for revenue.... don't always work do they, sequels?
little_sweetie - hey, go you with your own, home-grown salad :j Whoop indeed!
themarsbargirl - BUSTED! I've not made yoghurt for some while. I do still have starter in the freezer though - I'll make some before the end of this weekend - you've inspired me. Thank you
DawnW - Thank you. The fridge rise does make a heck of a difference - totally counterintuitive, but it seems to work everso well.
MWC - ah, building you up, in stages, to it. I see
Well, last night was a good start to a weekend.
We enjoyed the film. It was more thought provoking than I thought it was going to be. I was expecting more comedy, but actually, I think that I preferred it. Whilst I didn't like Dame Mag's character, it was refreshing to see her play 'ordinary vulnerable' instead of 'posh vulnerable', I thought her acting was actually better.
But we both agreed that Penelope Wilton stole the show for the best acting. Particularly the argument scene in the bedroom.
All in all a good film and worth the 18 months or so wait to get round to seeing it
We had an icecream break in the film too - a tub of Mag num icecream - chocolate with raspberry and chocolate sprinkles on top - like a deconstructed Mag num I suppose. It was very nice, and I got 2 for £1 from c00l trader. Wonder how much it would have cost me in the cinema?
Dinner last night was toad in the hole;
Accompanied with mashed potato, roast potatoes and parsnips, peas, carrots, cauli and broccoli with onion gravy. Very nice, although a little warming given the lovely weather
The veggie sausages were sweet chilli and yes, they were cut in half, as we only had 3 left.
I think that our 'cinema night in' cost less than £8 all in :money: How much is a cinema ticket these days?
Today is a day of chores - mostly paperwork related. But I'll have DP's company, so that will be lovely
I don't think that I will be able to claim a NSD though. We'll see.
Dinner this evening will not be the pizza on the planner, as we have no cheese left. I shall probably be reporting, 'Curry' to you. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
Right, I'm going to try to post this before the pooter decides to munch or delete it, again.
Thank you so very much for dropping by, reading and joining in. I do appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Can't possibly miss my GREYING fix!
Trying to be very MSE in Madeira. V Long story short we have acquired timeshare here and love it. Have been two Levada walks without paying a bean to tour guides etc. mr BUSY being ex army is good at finding his way around. We are hopping on and off the buses like a couple of locals. Making the most of the discount card provided by the complex:money: and finding places offering special deals. Food and drink in hotel is extortionate  They want 12€ each for breakfast so that's not happening!
Today is 'freedom' day in Madeira so after breakie (made by ourselves not hotel staff!) we will toddle out into town to view the celebrations;) And hopefully find some nice cheap backstreet caf!s for eats. Oh and it's blue skies again, bliss.....:TBusymumofthreeplusdog......

Oh Busymumofthreeplusdog - it sounds wonderful - especially the clear blue skies and sunshine. We don't currently have that here
:rotfl:
Sounds like a wonderful hols. Still impressed that you've time to drop in here
:D:D
Isn't Maderia famed for it's flowers? Or have I got that wrong? Anything spectacular, given the more favourable weather conditions?

We paid for adult ticket £9.50 last week:eek: DD1 and I have student cards so got in for £6.50 and we said our 16 yr old was 15:o so she got in on child ticket £5.50 - otherwise she would have to pay adult!Greying_Pilgrim wrote: »Isn't Maderia famed for it's flowers?

My apologies to everyone reading from the lovely Island of Madeira - I spelt it incorrectly in my previous post. Told ya I failed geography!
Igamogam - £9.50  Heck, and that ain't even londinium pricing. Gosh. Still I was going to say that neither can you 'eat your tea' and munch an icecream through the film like we did. But actually that isn't true. Pizza and all sorts is 'deliverable' to your seats now isn't it? Mmm, I know that I am an old fud-dud, but I have to say, cinema is losing it's appeal for me. It's been an age since we've been to our local arthouse one, and that is relatively 'old-fashioned' in comparison to the multi-plexes.
Mind you, multi-plexes don't have to pause for folks to attend to the washing up, or 'other' breaks....... :rotfl:

I'm afraid that the very fact that people munch, crunch and rustle their way through films now is the main reason I can rarely face the cinema. It annoys the bejasus out of me I'm afraid.
if people want to eat while watching they darned well ought to follow your excellent lead and do it at home! :rotfl:
Ha - my tonight's dinner will look quite similar to your last nights one. Toads are go here, with (probably) peas and a mash using the last two teeny sweet potatoes and some parsnips. The toad will also use up the last two eggs, so all in all a tasty "using up" sorta tea.
The rolls made in the loaf tin look superb. Must give that one a try - my loaf tins rarely get an outing as when we make bread rather than rolls we usually just got for letting the machine make it right through. We're bone idle like that!
