So sad about Tony Benn. I had the pleasure of meeting him once and he was so courteous and so generous with his time. A lovely man.

  • Good Evening :hello:

YAY! Beanie's back :j I thought I'd done something to upset ya - missed ya :D

INOD - INTEGRITY - that's the word. Well said.

Karma - yes, indeed, who else in the 'hallowed halls' could you say that about? Dame Shirl, maybe; one or two others, perhaps.....

Piq - hugs backatcha. Lovely to *see* you, appreciate you popping in :D

dawnybabes - spoken like a true daughter of Yorkshire! But where is your MSEness?? I've a recipe for veggie Worcestershire sauce - means it's virtually free :money: :rotfl:Thanks for popping in - please pop in again - cos you know that if I come across a bottle of this sauce I'm gonna give it a go :D

mothernerd - oh isn't it great when folk are as good, or better in person than they seem. A good memory - ta for your post :D

Well, today whizzed. The good news is that I nabbed a NSD - entirely due to me forgetting my purse again. Which is good for money saving, but it also meant my library card got left at home... :( Thank goodness there wasn't a 'must have' book lurking on the shelves. Mind, I've a veritable library to plough through as it is, so maybe it was no bad thing.

Caught in a dilemma of which of 2 choices to make for dinner, I dithered and made a third choice! :rotfl: I made spinach and mozzarella pizza and 'chips' - as we can have some pizza for lunch tomorrow whilst watching the rugger.

The mozzarella was from L*dl and was pre-grated - something like £1.28 for a 200g bag? I've used most of the bag, with a little cheddar mixed in too. The spinach was the mrW stuff, that was on special. And the tomato sauce was some HM stuff out of the freezer. The tatties were a gift from the non-gardening parental - origin unknown, but not HG, as they were washed, not covered in mud :rotfl:

    Picture here;

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

lists - we've a load of things to accomplish this weekend, so I started a list, and managed to complete a couple of tasks already as a result :j for lists :D

for the sunshine and warmth - the former because it makes you feel good, the latter because me pizza dough rose in double quick time :D:D

for a life given over to service, for a life spent trying to do the right thing, for a life of advocacy.

Thank you so much for popping in, reading and commenting. I continue to appreciate it so much.

    See y'all later.

  • Good Morning :hello:

Up and at 'em and ready to go this morning - someone forgot to tell DP it's the weekend...:rotfl: Nah, we've a load of things to do and in order to conserve diesel/make the most of our car use, we've a load of things to pack in.

    Today won't be a NSD :(

Still, it does mean that rubbish (it is rubbish, nothing to sell this time :() is moving away from the homestead, so no complaints from me.

Looking forward to the rugger today. Nothing can be a foregone conclusion when playing Italy. I'm expecting them to play, play, and then play some more until the final whistle. They aren't going to roll over and give us a 50 pointer win that Sir Woody was wittering on about last week.

And I'm expecting tears from Brian O'Driscoll, if this really is his last hurrah.

Right, well I best sign off - for the day - as it won't be a nsd, and lunch/dinner will be 'bitsa', and whilst not costing much, won't be replicable/of any inspiration either :rotfl: I shall have to hand back me MSE medals at this rate! :rotfl:

Have a wonderful day one and all. And thank you so much for popping by to *see* me. I continue to greatly appreciate it.

Good morning, grey, wet and windy, (the weather, that is) but like you, GP loads to do and a definitely not NSD day ahead. However, I have many seedlings to !!!!! out, as seeds have germinated and put a smile on my face. Looking after friends son for a couple of hours this morning so he can 'help' me.
Lunch is L/O H/M sweetcorn and apple soup and tea will be found in the depths of the freezer, with fridge bottom veg.
Not NSD as I have already bought a Christmas and a birthday present for another friends grandson, bl**dy online shopping, it is too easy.
Washing will decorate the bannister and bedrooms (alternative bunting, perhaps) and with luck will retain only 'heat of the body' creases so no ironing....... please.
Right off to do coffee and a flask for the gardener, in the greenhouse. Have a super day everyone.

OOps it seems that I cannot 'pr*ck out' seedlings perhaps I can transplant them.
  • I'm expecting tears from me for Brian o'driscoll. I do admire wee bod. Think he was the best Ireland captain / team player since woodie. And, like you say, there's nowt predictable from today

Sunshine fooled me first thing, but now it's clouding over, boo. I'm having a yard sale this afternoon, should have checked the sport listings on TV pages before scheduling for rugby time - I'll probably lose DH as a helper, lol.

Perhaps I should sell the excess frozen veggies? Although with help from friends in GP's box, I've used up most of the spinach and peas, but the sweetcorn seems to be regenerating.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

That is 'coz you did not ask us for advice on what to do wif mutant sweetcorn! :rotfl:

Good luck with the yard sale :D Maybe you'll sell loads as all the 'WAGs' will come out to get away from the yelling and sobbing over the rugger :D

mrsinvisible - your day sounds FAB! :D

In need of direction - deliciously unpredictable would be a wonderful last weekend eh? And yes, I agree, Brian has been a 'giant' for Irish rugger - no question :D

Right, loads ticked off the list. Money spent, unfortunately. But some of it was DP's :j So not feeling too bad :D

Best get and do some more, only 2 and a bit hours til kick-off :D

  • Hello!

I seem to have had many enforced NSD's this last 2 weeks having been incapacitated (word of the week :() but unfortunately, DH doesn't feel the need to 'frugal shop' so the whole of the food budget and more has been spent this week and the freezer is virtually empty.
We have had a few proper home cooked meals this week but I am intent on better quality shopping next week. With this in view, I struggled into the driver's seat of the car this morning and dropped DH off at work so that I could shop IN PEACE! (Don't worry, I can drive safely it's just the getting in and out now which is painful :o) I have spent some of my pocket money on spices in readiness and I spotted some great animal shaped biscuit cutters in Sainsbob's reduced from £7.50 to £3 but they actually scanned at £1.20 :jso I'm prepared for GC to 'help' me cook biscuits too.

Enjoy the rugger dear GP, the pizza looks wonderful. Must have a go soon....

Still laughing out loud at "mutant sweetcorn" :grinheart::cheesy:

£55 made from the yard sale, and £80 for two M&S lamp tables. Not bad, and the pleasure of chatting with neighbours and colleagues in the sunshine.

DH suggested we do a car boot sale next weekend, which took me by surprise as I thought he'd hate doing that. So that's another way we're going to declutter and boost the coffers.
