Good Evening :hello:
Ay up, visitors - how luverly
rtandon - well, no, not reaaallllly, but..... well, DP was working hard on one project outside and I had lotsa 'fiddly' bits/chores to do inside, and whilst it was common sense to enjoy the sunshine, it didn't get my chores completedI made the best of both and got most of my chores done
Hey mcculloch - lovely to *see* you. I'm more used to seeing you over on the 'OS' boardWhere YOU are super supportive of folk - both online and in RL
:D:D I've not ruled out surveys, but I'll be honest, I've not found time for them either. And now that we've made the decision to 'up sticks' i'm not sure I'll find the time. However, never say never
I remember you getting the food processor to try out. Nifty
How's the folk/live music scene these days? Still bringing on new talent in your neck of the woods?
dreaming - you have hit the nail on the head - that has been the difference over the last couple of days - we have seen bees and butterflies not just a lone bee or a lone butterfly. Wonderful! Sounds like you've been busy - and that you're a grafter - moving half sleepers by yourself, bravo :T
moneyistooshortotmention - much like mcculloch I took time this afternoon to have a good auld gander at that blog that you linked too. Very good. Pity they don't post more. And yes, I see the similarity of some of the dishes to those I have made so THANK YOU for thinking of meAnd I've found a couple of extra recipes to try out, so watch this space :T (if mcculloch doesn't beat me to making them first
)
I achieved a NSD today. Never left the homestead and don't routinely buy off t'net, so it t'was an 'easy' bag for me
Dinner this evening was very simple and very frugal. I watched the hairy bikers in asia and saw them making an egg fried rice dish, to which they added chopped up omelette, rather than faffing with cracking the egg into the rice, which never works for me - primarily because I don't have a wok. However, in the end, I didn't even bother running the egg through the rice, just lay it on top, as per a Buddha bowl or biriyani. I did cut the omelette into ribbons though, so that it was easy to eat.
Picture here;
The veggies are half a bag of valoo stir-fry veg, left over from Chinese NY. The rice is 150g @£1 per kilo bulk price, so 15p for 2 portions. There are about 8 small florets of broccoli, left over from the ald* bag of mixed veg, you know, the one that did the afghan carrot hot pot and several other dishesa 2 egg omelette - using 2 x 2 of the smaller eggs out of the mixed size baking pack, so 14p per portion and a drizzle of HM harissa (v hot) sauce. About 60p a portion max, taking into account seasoning and spicing too
...... And we are now both stuffed
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
for kind people who see things and think, 'oooh, must tell Greying about that'. THANK YOU
for the impact of the sunshine on bird, insect, human and wildlife
for teamwork - team Greying ends the weekend ahead in the list stakes. There is only one job 'outstanding' (not urgent) and as it was, we completed a lot more that actually wasn't even on the list :T
Ta for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Thank you Greying! The live music club is going great guns, such a pleasure and such a big part of my life.
The OS board is such a friendly place, but given that I make my living from technology - and it also brings me many pleasures - I sometimes feel a little bit of a fraud there!
I got my son Jamie's 'Save With...' book for Christmas and it's finally made it out of his room and into the kitchen to join some of the other cookbooks. I'm having a flick through, I like some of the veggie recipes in particular, I'm not a vegetarian but they did appeal.
I note that a couple of Jack's recipes closely resembled a couple of Jamie's but I don't suppose he would mind...Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Good Morning :hello:
Happy St Patrick's Day one and all
Monday morning, bright and breezy and another start to another week
Today should be a NSD. I'm all but at £0 for the grocery money now, so I shall be going over this monthNot by a lot, as predominantly it is milk and bananas that I have left to buy. But I am still a bit annoyed. I think it is the baking ingredients that have done it, but I still have the items 'in stock' so they will be used up, just a bit of an outlay all at once. I should, however, have money left over from both the 'social' budget and the 'non-food' budget, so all is not yet lost
Dinner this evening = veggie gu1ness casserole and colcannon potato scones :j Already made and just needs heating up :j
mcculloch - the recipe in Jaymee's 'Save' that I have most used has been the 'Piadina' recipe. Endlessly versatile, you can make them thick or thin, flavoured or plain. A good recipe
Right, I am away to seize the day. Have a good 'un yerselves
Thank you for popping by, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Good Morning :hello:
Grrr, DP is back to being the proverbial donkey that I am having to push up a steep incline....... I'm exhausted.
I did claim a NSD yesterday (updated siggie)
I shall be aiming for another NSD today. No point in getting the TV guide, I'll wait until we need milk. Day or 2?
Dinner this evening should be another from the Maria Elias 'stable'.
Right, I'm away to pack up snap and find some resolve (grit and determination, not the hangover cure :rotfl:) from somewhere.
Thank you for popping in and reading. Appreciated - as always
See y'all later.

Hi GP,
I finally got around to making the veggie Gu1nness stew yesterday. Lots of chopping, peeling, and measuring went on as I only wanted to make half the quantity (6 servings would be too much in case DH didn't like it after all) but it was then surprisingly easy to make. I made it early in the day then left it to settle and re-heated it for dinner. Wow! is the only word I can use! It was delish and there is still enough left for tonight too. Thanks, Greying, for finding me another :money:keeper :kisses3:

Greying
I'm sure you'll find some "grit and determination" - (try looking behind the sumac and smoky chipotle jars - that's where I keep mine:rotfl:).
Chin up dear GP - this will only be a temporary blip and will soon pass I'm sure.0 -
I know how you feel Gp.
I am just sooo tired at the mo.
Falling quite a lot.Bah.

Good Evening :hello:
Oh my dear friends in the box... how very kind you are
Karma - thank you. I did have a surprise today, but it was a good one - more anon
Beanie - you're falling again? Oh my goodness - I hope you are not hurting yourself? Keep safe you - we all need you here on MSE cheering us all along
dreaming - thank you - you have just made me laugh out loud! I knew I was doing it all wrong, I keep my sumac in the drawer and the chipotle in the cupboard, no wonder I lose me 'grit and determination' at the drop of a hat :rotfl:
little_sweetie - excellent! You did better than me! My version of the stew turned out bitter. Now we know that it wasn't the ale, as you only need 11floz and the bottle was a little bigger, so we got to 'sample'..........And it was fine - passed all inspectionAnd the only thing that I missed out (coz I had none) was the tomato puree. So I came to the conclusion that it was the mustard, which was a little bit out of date (only 4 months.........) and that seemed to have gone 'strong' and I think overpowered the dish. I knew it wasn't the recipe, as we'd had it when Ireland played England in the rugger and that was fine (used grain mustard though, not the Dijon I used last night). Learnt my lesson though, and the tiny bit of mustard left in the jar has been disposed of and the jar put in the recycling
So, a pic of Vegetarian Gu1ness Stew with Colcannon Potato cakes (made with leek tops, as we had no cabbage.......) is here;
Right, I'm away to load up tonight's dinner pic, so i'll be back....
Oh, and I snagged a NSD today, so I've updated my siggie already
See y'all in a bit.
