  • Good Evening :hello:

    So, after 'falling out' with DP last night, today has turned out mucho, mucho better than expected :D

    Long story short, some vinyl records (I know, I know, I'll have lost a whole tranche of younger readers with that one :rotfl:) that belong to DP and that have been collecting dust :o under the bed for the past 10 years plus, got despatched from the house today. The good news is that I managed to sell some of them at lunchtime to a S/H record shop and now DP now has a little bit of cash to put towards an MP3 player/eyepod and I've got rid of some more junk :j And no, Dear Reader, it was not worth us falling out over, but DP can be awfully stubborn....... as it is, he has now earnt money, by doing nothing, so he is feeling smug :D i'm feeling good, because in getting DP to really confront why he was keeping hold of a load of old tat, I've managed to get the whole lot out of the house, coz the ones the shop didn't want, will go to the chazza shop at the earliest opportunity. And whilst I appreciate that we may have got more by bay of eeeing, neither of us have the temperament for it, so we took a path of less reward, but quicker result :D

    Oh, and for what it's worth, we've not had the means to play vinyl for over a decade.........why we held onto the records.......

    Oh, and I know that Piq monitors such things, so you'll all be relieved to hear that I hoovered under the bed, and there is not so much as a dust kit under there now, never mind any dust bunnies!

    The other good news is that I too have done battle with BT (see Pippi's thread) and we have now sorted it so that DP will be able to see the motorcycling. I have decided to pay the line rental up front :money: So actually, we have upgraded our package, and will be paying no more per month than BT wanted to charge us for our old package........ And this was all done last night, (amazing what you can complete in a bad mood!) and i'm not counting the payment as a 'spend' as it was on the card. Therefore, it will count as a 'spend' when the card is paid. We had the funds available as the 'known known' that was expected during the first quarter of this year has, for the time being, become unnecessary, so we had funds spare, and thought that this was a good way to make our money actually stretch further :money: In addition, we will now save the line rental money each month, to be able to do the same at the end of the term.

    Right, dinner this evening was a recipe from Maria Elias's book - the modern vegetarian. It was called 'Thai Style Root Vegetable Casserole'. Quite a simple dish, although I think that BoB will demote me from my honorary position in the 'bobettes' as there was no Swedish turnip in the house to make this dish as per the recipe...... I actually think this is a sort of dish that you make with what you have.......... It tasted good. I used the second half of the jar of lemongrass that I got, much more cost effective than buying the lemongrass stalks - definitely our Maria's a fan of 'em! :D I didn't caramelise the roots as the recipe stated, just cooked it on the stove top. It tasted just fine. Picture here;

    I used parsnip, sweet potato, carrot and peas in my version. If you would like a go at the recipe, I found a very kind blogger in Aberdeen that had had a bash at the recipe when it was in the mrS magazine. They too thought the root veg selection a little...... 'different' :D Read all about it HERE I think I would make it again. It's certainly quite cheap, if you used the jarred lemongrass (or you could easily substitute zest and juice of a lemon).

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    for enthusiasts - whether they make a business out of an interest, or purchase items that others no longer need, they provide a service and create demand. Music to my simple life ears...... :D

    that I was able to surprise and delight DP - it will hopefully prove that we're moving in the right direction and that I do sometimes know best/better....... :rotfl:

    for the warmth of support from you guys - I'm sure I don't deserve such riches..... but appreciate them regardless :D

    Thank you so much for popping by, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

    Right everyone, I've looked under Greying's bed used a torch and metal detector and can report back that it is very clean :rotfl: Mind you I'm not sure where Greying got the idea I was that houseproud. I admit to hoovering under my bed once and that was when the bed was taken to the removal van and I realised that there was ten years or so of dust bunnies (dust hippos) available for forensic research :o

    Funnily enough my DS is a very avid vinyl collector & has 'liberated' a lot from the loft.
    Knew I kept them for a reason :rotfl:
