Good Evening :hello:
Wow! more visitors
mrsinvisible - did you do your walk? Bravo to you for getting involved - I assume you had to wear stripey socks as you strode out? Thanks for the additional info re the pensions - knew there'd be a catch - still, I suppose all the *detail* doesn't make a snappy, vote bagging headline does it?? *sigh*
Karma - you are going great guns with your gardening, no doubt
Beanie - thank you sweetie :kisses3: Hope you are well
little_sweetie - YAY to performing parsnips :T YAY to performing potatoes too :T You don't need me for culinary inspiration and neither do you need Mr Don for gardening inspiration - you go gal! :j
cat4772 - Hello and Welcome. Pull up a chair in front of the stove and make yourself at home. If you don't like what's on the juke box, then you're welcome to supply your own vinyl. Everyone else has :rotfl: Sorry to hear that you are nursing a sick ickle one, hope they are better soon
Well, today has been brill. I did spend, so blew my NSD, but remembered I needed a lemon and got some YS'd bread, which will come in very useful, so not going to beat myself up over it.
I did remember to take the rest of the [STRIKE]vintage record collection [/STRIKE] unsaleable vinyl to the chazza shop. More tat outta the house forever :T
Dinner will be a non-starter (despite me getting the lemon!). DP has been delayed and diverted. Not too sure what time I'll get to see him, but he has promised to come home via....... a chippy  Mmmm, part of me hopes he finds a decent one. Part of me hopes he doesn't :rotfl: cat4772 - this is unusual for this thread, so please don't think we have take-away all the time, nothing could actually be further from the truth (we *thankfully* live in a takeaway desert where the food is carp), but needs must tonight, plus DP is paying....
So today I am grateful for these 3 things;

that, for once, I don't have to make a meal - normally I'm happy to, but, d'you know, just occasionally, even I appreciate a night away from the stove
Thanks so very much for popping in, reading and commenting. I continue to value your support hugely
See y'all later.

The odd takeaway won't hurt. Everything in moderation. And like you said its nice to have a break from cooking now and again. Although I have to admit your food always looks amazing. I'd love to cook like you do.

Just a quick heads up for those who have an Aldi near rather than Lidl - their milk is 95p for 4 pints now as well.
Lots of other price cut reductions and some top quality fruit and veg in the Super 6 at the moment - apples, pears, oranges, mushrooms and as a treat asparagus spears.
Little_sweetie, yes, the pan is wonderful.
And today I looked through my 1p from Am@zon new-to-me Jocasta Innes' 'Eatability' book and found an easier and more flexible version of stove-top pan pizza than I have used in the past. I previously used Shirley Goode's recipe, which is good but is more time - consuming.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Good Morning :hello:
An early one for us here at GT.
We're currently having every weather type under the sun, but mostly it is...... persistently....
Well, you'll be pleased to hear that the 'new' chipper will not be adding inches to my thighs and hips..... well, once I've shifted the 2kg of grease that adhered to me last nightTo give them their due, they definitely went for quantity over quality. DP said there was a queue and I'm not surprised. It is the sort of place that would make it easier to buy portions of filling stodge, than buy ingredients, turn the cooker on and spend time cooking. I can absolutely see why places like this exist, even if it is a revelation to the likes of Jaymee. Still, it ain't for us.
Today will be another spend day. Hope I'm not getting out of the habit of NSD's:rotfl:
Dinner this evening will probably be curry. I'll save the recipe that I didn't make last night for tomorrow night.
Mcculloch - you mentioned Ald* and mushrooms. If anyone is near a L*dl today, they have 350g of mushrooms for 42p as part of their 'breakfast' promotion. If you'd like more details, some sweet folks over on the 'food and shopping' board have detailed it out HERE
starnac - I agree entirely that the occasional takeaway is ok. Just wish we could find one that was edible
Ay up Pippi - lovely to *see* ya
Right, I'd better get on. Lots to do today.
Thank you so much for popping by, reading and commenting. Greatly appreciated.
See y'all later.

).
Don't work too hard.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
morning, Saturday lie in day, but not for much longer, need to do stuff. Sun is shining, so the garden beckons, as does the greenhouse, but first........ a trip to town and a visit to marks and spensive, Mrs I has bought a pair of skinny jeans........ oh, no! I know not frugal, but they were in the sale, and I do get discount, and it was with money from selling a child (that last one was a lie, I am just justifying my frivolity)
I am quite excited, it is almost a year since my nethers have been new clad just not sure if I can wear this sort. Time will tell.
Time has told, its journey is written in my wrinkles!.
I did the walk with DD we wore silly sox and I wore bright pink metallic coloured shoes! ugly, but sooooooo comfy.
Made the scones with DGS last evening, your olive and pepper ones and some cherry ones (olives left from Christmas and cherries from the baking stores, pepper from mr m. already in, as had a 3 pack for chilli and soup and next weeks pork recipe thingy, ).
They went well with the chilli, and the cherry ones went well, with DGS to his dads for the weekend. Off now to do stuff have a lovely weekend.0 -
Another sunny day here but cold and windy. I have 1 more half sleeper to put in place in garden. Have done 3 of the 4 that I had but it is hard work as the ground is very stony indeed. Feel that the garden is really coming together now after 4 years. When I moved in all I had was grass (can't call it lawn as it is so bad) with a border of about 6inches down one side and 6 horrible scabby trees. The trees have now gone (too much for a small garden) and I have put raised veg/fruit beds at the back. I had also made the flower/shrub border wider a couple of years ago but am digging out a bit more and edging it with the sleepers now. Am trying to find some spare cash (not that there is any "spare" really) to buy some more sleepers, but that will have to wait a couple of months.
After a hard day in the garden I often feel like a takeaway and have chippy just round the corner from me but the thought of it has proved to be better than the reality in the past as their batter is extremely greasy. Did have a pub lunch (2 for a tenner) the other day with friend after listening to a speaker in library for free. Aren't drinks expensive though? I bought half a cider and a coke (friend had driven so thought it fair I bought drinks) and it came to over a fiver!:eek:0 -

Hey, bravo mrsinvisible :T I've not heard what the total for the whole event was at the end of the evening - any ideas?
How long do you think that the cherry scones will last uneaten?? Not long - but you can't beat home baking - well done DGS :TAfter a hard day in the garden I often feel like a takeaway and have chippy just round the corner from me but the thought of it has proved to be better than the reality in the past as their batter is extremely greasy. So true, so true. Good for the waistline and wallet, but other times, sooooo frustrating! And YES to drinks being dear - particularly soft drinks for those driving!
Sounds like the gardening is coming along a pace though. Well done
