    !!!!!!...?

You are aware that that's a criminal act, as well as being mind-bogglingly stupid?

Why would it be a criminal act to put bleach in your own soil in your own garden? Next you will be saying she can't throw her cigarette stub in her own garden (sorry OP, first example that came to mind)

Why don't you get a cat yourself, then it will probably keep the other cats out. Though you might get complaints from her about your cat using her garden.

We put the prunings from a climbing rose down in any areas of bare earth - seems to keep them off.

You are aware that that's a criminal act, as well as being mind-bogglingly stupid?

What part of putting down bleach in your garden is a criminal act exactly?

If it is to kill the cats then yes, it probably is a criminal act but if it's to bleach the soil clean because of the risk of disease from the excrement....

It isn't like the OP has laced meat with anti-freeze as a deliberate trap.

Weed killer will kill many pets, putting it down in my garden isn't illegal but it could have the same impact.

The only non harmful options that are likely to work and aren't expensive are the bamboo canes or a super soaker.

Cats dont like the smell of oranges. I wouldnt do anything that could hurt the cats, could you not speak to the owner?

My cats are indoor cats but my mums are outdoors, but she keeps an eye on them to make sure that they dont wander.

One of her kittens was screamed at by a neighbour, he has a cat himself but hes horrible to anyone elses, and shes now terrified of anyone apart from people in our family.

Sorry, but I really wouldnt be putting barbed wire down. You might not like the cats but they dont deserve to be harmed. And if you do that as a deterrent to the cats and they do get harmed you might end up in a battle with the neighbour that you dont want.

The problem is with the owner and its her you need to speak to. Also, if it really is causing a nuisance, consider contacting environmental health and they might letter her or speak to her.

If someone put barbed wire down and your dogs got injured, Im sure you would be upset and I appreciate that some people really dont like cats, but one of the cats I rescued was abused by a family before I got him, you dont know what has happened to an animal in its life before it goes to another home.

You could suggest that the owner buys a pen that a cat can run around in, so they can be outdoors and not go out of their garden, they arent cheap, but they can be bought.

Unfortunately the owner is not approachable in the slightest. Her dog was recently taken off her and rehomed due to the fact she used to let that crap all over the street, go for kids etc, and is generally quite an aggressive looking/sounding person.

Yes barbed wire is a bit extreme but I am sick of spending money trying to keep them out. I certainly wouldn't let my dogs crap somewhere with out picking it up.

We've had cats come in over the years to poop, I found the best option was to have an area they could use.. that seems to work quite well.

simply not an option. I am not allowing cats to crap in my garden.

In fact we used to have the same problem, now we invite next door's cat into our house, especially when he's thrown out in the cold. He lies and snoozes by the fire. Since this has been happening no cat has crapped in our garden. I think he thinks of it as his territory.

I'm pretty sure putting bleach down in my garden is not illegal lol!x I But yes it was put down to get rid of the smell and because they supposedly hate the smell of bleach and lemon, hence lemon bleach:D

I hate cats but I'm not evil and malicious. I don't want to kill them or hurt them - the barbed wire was suggested by a girl at work who had the same problem. She put some down and they stopped coming after a while x

again this is not an option as I don't like cats, plus I have two dogs who are prone to chasing small furry animals x
