can't we just have someone who could amend details in titles and posts? Wouldn't that be so much simpler for everyone than having to ask users to edit their posts when they've no intention of coming back?
I also sometimes want to say that something is reg/log in, or is email only or something like that, but sometimes posts are so far down the board I don't want to bump somewhat needlessly and selfishly.A simple edit by someone would make the board work better.

I totally agree although it may be open to abuse that way but if it was someone trustworthy it would make everyone's comping much easier!0

BG's can amend titles already but I think most of the newbies who pop in, post and p off (PPP) are generally self promoting and couldn't give a flying f*** whether they've posted correctly or not.
Sorry for the colourful language but it's getting beyond a joke now :mad:A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0 -
My thoughts exactly Daphne, it's so blatant and they're getting away with it because people race in and post the link for them. It's not rocket science to see what all of the other posts look like and make sure that yours looks the same. Having said that, if it is self promotion, if the title's corrected by another member it would mean the posts would stay there and not be removed by a Board Guide meaning self promotion wouldn't be detected.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

Yep, I agree there are those that are blatant self-promotion, but a lot of them aren't.
I think some people are quick to should 'self-promotion' when it actually isn't. There was one just yesterday.0 -

Generally if a new poster stays logged on and acts on requests to amend the date they are genuine, but I'd say at least 90% of the ones that just post and log out are self-promoting.
Just my opinion thoughA strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0 -

I'm puzzled. If it's a genuine comp, why does it matter if it is posted by the promoter or someone else? I'd enter it if the prize was desirable and the entry method acceptable, and skip it if I disliked either.
I agree that comps should be posted in the correct format, and if someone wants to self-promote they'd be silly not to do so.
Just a vague curiosity on my part.0 -

It's a MSE rule & we play by their rules.
No self promotion is allowed even it's a great comp.0 -
The rules say:
MoneySavingExpert.com is a free site - you cannot pay to buy advertising space - one of the reasons why so many people use it! Equally, you're not allowed to advertise any goods, services and/or companies anywhere on the forum, or through private messages, no matter how honourable your intentions.
'Advertising' includes touting for business; asking people to contact you; posting e-mail addresses which indicate a web address; linking to sites or blogs you or friends are involved with (whether you’re selling something or not); or linking to your eBay or other auction sales.
All posts which we consider to be advertising will be removed where reported.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I have to say I am exhausted every day at the moment.
From when I get on the forum around 8.30am till 9.30pm with small brakes in between I spend 70% of that time asking for posts to be posted correctly.
This is the job of a BG, it is one of the reasons why we are getting another BG hopefully around in the day time to try & catch some of them but ideally we could do with two more.
My arms ache, my neck aches & my fingers are numb!.
It has taken the shine off comping for me for a long time now because it feels like going to work not winning prizes.
I am now on Loquax as well as here & it's a dream on there.
Every posted comp gets checked by the mods & is corrected by them.
Simple, easy & works like a dream.
The trouble is this comp board is being Bged like all the other forum boards. It does not work.
We need more Bg's on the board who catch the incoming posts. What's happening now is BG's come on, go through the requested merges & catch the odd one or two.
What we need are BG's on the board catching the dupe posts, changing comp titles as they come in.
Basically we need some BG's to do the work we do every day.
