Yay for overpayment! And nice calculating of how you can get your goals/pots filled up. Love that you calculate your daily interest... I am thinking I should do the same as that would be a nice motivator too!

I find it really motivating - nearly a tenner every single day just on interest makes me feel very determined to get mf!

Mortgage company just told me when I asked - I'm not smart enough to actually work that out by myself :o

Big move Echo on sinking the baby fund but I think you're right about it - as long as you've worked out how much you'd need to cover your maternity plus a chunk for the inevitable baby expenses then you're better off using the rest to OP I suspect xx

    Thanks KolaKube :)

I regularly re-visit my calculations on maternity leave. My employer pays smp only so I have to make sure we're covered. I can save the remainder pretty comfortably in the next 9 months so even if I get pregnant tomorrow all will be well financially. Plus the 10 k target does allow a little bit of "slack" and it doesn't include any extra days Mr Delta might do or any "keep in touch" days that I could do.

(I also kind of hope that using a chunk now will tempt fate into pregnancy asap :o)

  • go for it....if you know you can save it again, then pay a chunk off!! well done for saving it in the first place!
    Original mortgage £154,850 (2013)
    Mortgage now £148,370.15:beer:

    Original savings £0 (2013)
Savings now £3000 in ISA and premium bonds
£60 in mini savings pot, £600 in Xmas vouchers
  • Thanks sleepy :)

Having a mega expensive long weekend at the moment. It's lovely but  money is haemorrhaging from us! Meeting with my sister and brother in law. We don't see them often as they live my miles away.

    The good:
-accommodation - fantastic, self catering, no extra cost for wifi, golf, swimming, sauna etc
-we cooked dinner last night instead of eating out
-I Tilly Tidied £1.60 to the op pot

    The bad :

-Cadbury World (but 2 for 1 deal so could have been worse)
-lunch out today (chilli and cheesy mash - soooooo good <drools>)
    -bought loads of wine
    -and cheese
    -and crisps :o

  • Home after weekend away.

Nsd yesterday :j with crazy golf and swimming to keep us entertained. Spent today on lunch out and some snacks for the car (the latter were unnecessary really but nice for the 4 hours it took). I have been spoilt with 24/7 central heating and long hot showers in the holiday let! In actual fact it was too hot and I'm quite glad to be back home to the slanket!

It has to be a mega frugal week now! I have £20 left until pay day on Friday. We shouldn't need any groceries. There's no reason why that £20 shouldn't stay there to be honest. 5 nsd to round off November?! Going to give it a whirl!

  • I think I need more heat. Second night now that I have woken up at 4.30 with a freezing cold face. Much as it pains me to have heating on while we are all in bed!

I Tilly Tidied all but £1 to the over payment pot. I have about £1 in change. Should do me until Friday.

  • We kept the heating on all of last night - it felt so decadent!!!

Result = not waking at 4am with a cold head :j

Switched it off again though. Will pop it on for an hour for Small's bedtime and then put the timer so it comes on for a bit at 3am to stave off the coldest part of the night. Considering balaclava as nightwear....:rotfl:

Lol Echo our heat is on and off all night - that seems to be the coldest time here (doesnt help that our attic conversion is pretty much uninsulated!)... during the day we have it off though - LO and I just heat the room we're in for a bit with an electric fan heater. Not sure I could cope with a cold face in bed lol xx

  • That makes more sense really - it's easier to stay warm on the go.

    Pay day tomorrow!
