Redrow Nightingale Gardens Leicester off-plan anyone purchased?

Just some info, advise.
I have bought a number of new builds.
Try to spend your money on important extras.
I mean anyone can buy a toilet roll holder from XYZ and fix it on a wall.
If you need an extra plug that is not a DIY project.
Also remember work top and sink heights are built for the average person. If you are very tall or short that can (if the installers or plumbers want to be helpful) be changed before/during installation. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

The bands will be the exact same as Nightingale Gardens, I spoke to one of the council tax valuation officers who said the same. So basically any 4 bed will be band E minimum. The 5 beds will be band F.
However, we can appeal (Which I have done and they are looking into it). If anyone needs the form let me know.0 -
Whilst the quality of my house was not excellent, thankfully it is not that bad. Maybe because I am one of the first batch, the manager and staff had probably kept a closer eye on everything.
And in relation to council tax appeal, mine was unfortunately turned down. So, the next level will be the Valuation Tribunal. As said by Martin Lewis in his guide, it might not be something I would want. I really dont know if I should pursue further.0 -
A question for you all:
Do the telephone sockets in your bedrooms/lounge work? Redrow says it is my responsibility to connect these 'slave' sockets. Just want to see if it is the truth or Redrow just wants to fob me off.
Really not impressed.0 -

Yes they do work. They are slaves but they should all be connected to the master socket (bedroom 4 in my case)
If your house is one of the first 4 plots in this site then basically you need to get Redrow's electrician to come connect this. The cables are all there. Redrow are just trying to Fob you off as its a big job but it is their responsibility.
Plots after this had a new electrician who did all this from the beginning0 -

Thanks Geektrek. :T You are a star! I think time to collate all our powers, and make a case to their senior management or the press, if Redrow keeps trying to fob us off.0 -

An update:
I wrote to the customer service department. They were quick in denying responsibility:
'Unfortunately I am not aware of any other residents who have automatically had the slave sockets working.'
Look like a plain lie to me.
Anyone knows the contact method of the regional director, as previously mentioned as the route of making a complaint?0 -
Hi All
Just a heads up for prospective buyers. Redrow are experiencing delays to the build process and therefore are missing their 6 month completion targets at Nightingale Gardens and Hamilton.
Therefore please bare this in mind considering that mortgage offers are only valid for six months. I think I'll be ok as I'm lucky that the economic climate hasn't changed drastically in the last six months and therefore extending my mortgage shouldn't pose too much of a problem but with the general election on the horizon and other uncertainties, the economic outlook could be different in the summer.
Redrow are blaming shortages in materials and labour so if their sales team mention five to six months to complete then please call them out on these empty promises.
Kind regards0 -
Hi all
Coming to this late as it looks like new plots will be released on this site soon. Very useful and interesting to read your experiences. Some of you will have been in for a while now - anything to add in terms of experience?
Also looking for prices for the different house types. Can't find anything online - so I guess this info will only be available when I visit at the weekend?
First time new build buyer, love the look of these nightingale Redrows :-)0 -
Still no optic fibre internet. Otherwise no major complaints (well, except a general reluctance shown by the developer to admit/repair any snags and you need to chase them up very pro-actively even if they agree to take action.). I am sure you will enjoy the development if they dont insanely increase the price. As a side note, the opening prices for various house types in Summer 2013 were:
Shrewsbury: 219xxx
Windsor: 239xxx
Oxford: 249xxx
Cambridge: 269xxx
Sunningdale: 319xxx
Highgate: 34xxxx ish
I dont think the market has improved too much that warrants a large increase from the level above. But anyway still a good reference point for you to haggle.0
