GeekTrek - that must be a frustrating to deal with the delays and it's knock-on effects...hopefully your plot will complete in March and there are no more delays.
Our completion is ages away - summer, but seeing as people are talking about delays, I'm not holding my breath!
The sales guy told me that some of the first homes are going to be handed over shortly, which I suppose is a good sign. Apparently they've only got three or so plots left on the market for the frst phase.
We're currently spending time looking at the personalisation options for the plot. A good system, but some of the stuff is pretty expensive! Charging extra for having a toilet roll....crazy!!0 -
My partner and me are looking to buy from this site after being recommend by a friend who brought from another redrow site, unfortunately we was to late to get the propery we wanted as we thought about things for a couple of weeks but when we went back the property was gone. We went to other builders in the area and the finish and quality of there homes are poor so we are going to wait for another redrow home to become available on this site.
After speaking to the sales people, all are very helpful and kind, we asked about incentives and was told only a flooring package will be offered, we was very happy with this as when looking to buy flooring for a second hand home we was going to buy the quotes given was for thousands of pounds so a flooring package will be greatfully accepted, the other builders did offer us more but I'm a believer that you don't get anything for nothing so they must up there prices to offer these deals.
The items redrow offer in the price of the property was very good, we worked out how much these items would cost for us to put into another builders house and these went into thousands of pounds, we also found the redrow homes to be more spread apart and they had storage.
My friend is more than happy with his home and has recommended a few of his friends and gets £500 each time one of them buys a redrow home, his next money will come from us.
Another friend of mine got a house from another builder in leicester and yes he got his stamp duty paid with a flooring package last june, he paid more money for it and has had lots of problems and it feels cheeply built.
We keep going back to the sales office and see how busy it is, we hope we don't miss out again and wouldn't expect any more deals other than what was offered.
I am sorry to hear that delays have happened to some people but the houses are not built in a factory but outside so the weather and other obstacles can delay the building, I sell items to the building trade and this crops up all the time, they call us to delay delivery.0 -
Hi All,
I have recently enquired about a plot on this development
They seem quite firm on what they give as incentives.
Apart from the flooring, has anybody else secured anything else.
Your feedback would be great.0 -
@MrL - certainly my experience is the same as you : nothing much else apart from flooring and turf in the garden. The others in this thread are saying the same as well. Let us know if you can get even more out of 'em!
@leicester guy - good to know, thanks for the info.
Hopefully some of the other plot buyers can fill us in about their post-sales experience on the development. :-D0 -
Just a quick update, we exchanged on the first week of January. Prior to this, the sales team would always call us and give us an update on the build every week or so. Since the first week of January I have had very little contact with the sales team. I've had to call them and visit the office several times for updates on progress of the build, but got no proper answer.
Just goes to show, they were like my best friend prior to exchange, once they got what they wanted they don't really seem that bothered. Bit of a shame. I guess they do have the new Hamilton Site open, so they might be busy with that. But would be good if they kept in touch with us.0 -
Hi all, not at the same development but we have reserved with Redrow, they've given us solar panels, carpets, amtico, ceramics in wet areas and turf but we didn't even ask so we were suprised! Hoping to get a dishwasher and washing machine but we'll see.....
Good luck!0 -
For those who got their keys, are you able to get your phone line/internet installed? It seems that BT Openreach has not yet got their infrastructure sorted. I have been without phone line and internet for a month (and probably for another month or so if I am optimistic)! Think this will affect all ISPs no matter you are with Sky, BT, Virgin or TalkTalk, as all these companies need to rely on Openreach to set the lines up.0

@CherwellRiver I get my keys next week. Called BT, PlusNet, Sky and EE. All having the same issues. All said will take a couple of weeks. I work from home so I will need a phone line and internet connection right away. Sky TV was not a problem though.
If you don't mind me asking. Did you find any issues when you had your demo? I have my demo scheduled on Thursday next week and I get my keys the next day. I think 1 day won't be enough in case I find any faults or issues. Thanks0 -
@GeekTrek: You dont need to reveal every single fault during the demo as in my case Redrow gave me around one month to compile a comprehensive snag list.
But of course, if you spot some serious faults which you prefer them to do it now rather than later, then say so immediately such that they could rectify it before you move in.0 -
@CherwellRiver, Thanks
I had a call from BT, they said the line will be installed at my house on the 28th March. But broadband will be a little later0
