Morning all.
CW Lucky you with sunshine. It is grey with a fine drizzle here - very dismal.
Your brace doesn't sound too good. I always thought the supports would keep it in place. Good luck with mastering the technique.
Jeferey Hope all is progressing Ok for you and the family. My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.
Kerri How is everything now you have had time to settle after your Big trip? Bet you wish you were still in Oz.
We belong to our local U3A which is celebrating 25 years on Sunday. There will be a lunch with roast hog barbeque & entertainment in the afternoon so should be a good lazy day - just need some sunshine!
Take care all.0 -
Good morning red, kerri and Jeferey
red - hope you enjoy your roast hog barbeque, sounds good but not sure the weather will be dry. We are forecast rain Sunday afternoon so far.
kerri - hope everything is ok with you
Jeferey - I know you have more important things to do atm but take care and come back and let us know how you are when you can.
What a change in the weather. We had one glorious sunny, warm day and since then have had rain every day. Its dry atm but due rain later. The rain has made the weeds grow like crazy and the lawn needs mowing but it will have to wait.
Take care guys

Evening all- apologies (again) for my absence - nothing serious, just busy with RL I'm afraid. Was away the week before last for work for just over a week then OH was away the day I got back for a few days. My business trip entailed 4 flights incl being up at 3.30am one morning to catch one so needless to say I have been somewhat tired and catching up this week. Plus work is really busy atm - go go go as always.
This is the first weekend we can recall - actually I think since April where we have had nothing on. Even in April we were sorting holiday / house stuff so pretty much this must be the first weekend this year that hasn't had something requiring attention.
House is still a bit of a tip, but then realised we've only been in it a month - 2 weekends of which one of us hasn't been here
CW I know what you mean about the weather, I popped out yesterday lunchtime in glorious sun, then while I was inside someone came in saying how it was hammering it down outside. Not good as I had 2 loads of washing out and one was almost dry. I agree with Red, your brace shouldn't be slipping like that - how is it now?
Red The holiday seems a looooong time ago, however I don't wish I was still in Oz as the friend whose wedding I went to has now returned to the UK :j (it was all planned btw - nothing terrible has happened) So although I do wish I was still on holiday, its a(nother) exciting new chapter to this year
How was the hog roast?
jeferey thinking of you and hoping you are ok given the circumstances.
Will try and post more often in between pulling out rawl plugs (34 at last count), filling & sanding (neither of which has been started) and furniture shopping (:money: of course)

Good morning red, kerri and Jeferey
kerri - nice to hear your ok. I am sure you will have a really busy 6 months getting your house sorted but it will be lovely when finished and ready for your first christmas there. Its hard work moving and unpacking but will be worth it in the end.
red - hope you enjoyed your hog roast and you didn;t get soaked. The weather is so unpredictable atm.
Jeferey - thinking of you at this sad time.
re my brace - my son puts my brace on for me as you have to stretch it tight around your thigh and then tight just below the knee. It fastens with velcro. Then you fasten 2 further straps, one around the thigh and one just below the knee. No matter how tight he fastens it the brace is ok for a few minutes but when I am walking it slowly gets lower and lower till its below the knee. As it has 2 bars either side of the knee to support the knee it means I cannot bend my knee. It just is;t working for me. The orthotist told me to try it for 2 months and then let him know if its right but I know now it isn;t right. I have tried it under my jeans and over my jeans but its the same. When the brace is in the right place it does seem to help so its a shame it just won;t stay in position.
So have to keep persevering with it and pulling it up every few minutes atm.
Take care guys

Hi everyone.
Just a quick pop-in as I am off to France today for a month so you are unlikely to hear from me until the end of July.
The hog roast was lovely. We had a duo perform after lunch - really good and performed all the songs we grew up with - Rat Pack, Elvis, Tom Jones. The only disappointment was there should have been a round the table magician but he phoned in sick on the morning. It was a good way to celebrate 25 years.
CW Sorry to hear about your brace - it certainly doesn't seem fit for purpose. Hope they can provide you with something better soon.
Jeferey Thinking of you - hope your mother is coping - so difficult when you have lived with someone for years.
Kerri - good to hear your news. When you have finished the work on your house, I could offer you plenty more here!
Hope we all have a proper summer soon - I have been optimistic and packed my Summer gear plus a sweater & raincoat.
Take care all0 -
Have a lovely holiday Red we'll miss you. Apparently the weather on the continent is lovely, it seems we're the only ones getting the cold front atm from Europe - in more ways than one.
CW your knee brace sounds a bit like a sports on my OH used to use for running (which he gave up in the end due to hayfever) although his didn't have the bars. His also used to slip down if it wasn't fastened tight enough. Is it when you straighten your leg it slips? Perhaps it needs to be put on tightly when your leg is straight (ie at it's thinnest with the muscles)? You might have tried this so tell me to shut up if you want.
jeferey thinking of you, hope you're doing ok. x
Life here still busy, back running and at yoga / pole too. Work manic and well, the house will get there slowly. Like you say CW another 6mths and it will be our first Xmas here.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Hi guys, a week on from funeral and we're doing ok thanks in the circumstances. Sorted most of accounts etc. out now apart from joint bank account. Mum going to Lincoln with a friend tomorrow using bus pass so hopefully she'll have a good day.
Just to add to situation had a big project go live at work last Sunday so knackered at moment. Things should settle down a bit going forward. Going to mum's Saturday afternoon for a visit and a meal.
Take care.If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0 -
Good to hear from you jeferey glad you're all as ok as you can be. i guess the project might be a focus for you - its nice that your mum is keeping busy - does the meal on Sat include any of your amazing allotment veg? xFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Ohhh....a nice pavlova then (with the strawberries...not the potatoes obv :rotfl:)
Am trying to persuade OH that he really would like some kind of raised veg bed when we come to do the garden (total opposite of our last place) this is literally decking, lawn and a huge bare patch which was a kids play area, prev garden had been totally landscaped by prev owners (yes, that garden I had finally cut back so it looked nice). Still its a bonus going out to do the garden and having one bag of grass cuttings vs 4 trips to the tip(and I don't need 'the' hedge trimmer for the foreseeable future too.
