SodaStream sent out of date food items, tells me to get stuffed

Aww, OK I'll go work on my analogies. I'll sup some delicious in-date fizzy pop whilst I do, to keep me refreshed
Pollycat - your point about the thread title is very valid op`s title IS plain wrong or misleading.
Interesting about the votes and opinion , I'm quite new to the forum and have never really come across this sort of jury of the peoples opinion scenario before. I thought it would be more like a straight legal decision I.e. legally op had no right here as as did soda stream did nothing legally wrong. However it seems to be more of a case of most people don't like ops attitude and he has been voted down, the inference being that he is either wrong or a moaner or bad somehow. Like a bad act on Britain's got talent. If he got a lot of positive votes, would the forum community then support him somehow by all writing to soda stream about his case or similar?
Anyway, an interesting conversation :-)0 -

OK then, hows about this one? :-)
It's like getting free family tickets to Alton Towers that are valid "sometime up until 2015". You get the free tickets in the post and it turns out they are only valid until tomorrow at 10AM, which is legally (90% agree) valid sometime until 2015.
You could still use the tickets after their expiry date if you should wish too (they wont burst into flames) however instead of an amazing (fresh) experience showcasing the very best that Alton Towers has to offer, what you actually get is a five hour car journey in the 1987 Astra (with the kids puking in the back as the suspension is soft and old) to be told you cant get in to the park proper, but feel free to have a picnic (of day old stale bread) in the carpark, then when you return home 2.5 hours in the old astra breaks down on the side of a dual carriageway.
Your first analogy was comparing it to something worth thousdnds of pounds.
This "analogy" is comparing it to something worth hundreds of pounds.
How about finding an analogy comparing it to something worth 10p which would be nearer an actual analogy!!0 -
It's like getting a free puzzle magazine, but the magazine issue is only the current issue for 8 days. After that, it's still a magazine, you can still do the puzzles (as they won't automatically solve themselves after 8 days and render the magazine useless), and the date is fairly irrelevant as it doesn't -stop- being a puzzle magazine after 8 days....
You have something for nothing, it works, and as has been said, the date is irrelevant here and printed due to a legal necessity as opposed to being for your safety.
Are you aware that there are a few foods that don't really expire, such as sugar, honey, many rices, vinegar, salt, vanilla extract etc.?
Yet, legally, they all have to have a BB date. I rarely use salt, and I'm still only about half way through a big bottle of it that I bought when I first moved out of my mom's house in '06...0 -
Let's face it there is nothing being given free here, the so called gifts are given paid for by their profits.
Although Soda Stream are not acting illegally they should be more fair with the use by dates.
So I feel the OP is right to complain and I am amazed as usual with the attitude of most people who have contributed to this thread.
Yet another person set upon by a pack of wolves, you should all be ashamed.0 -

And you have every right to feel as you do - but you are in the minority.
Why specifically are you 'amazed' by posters' attitudes?
Yet another person set upon by a pack of wolves, you should all be ashamed.
The OP asked a question and asked for opinions in a poll.
I gave mine - honestly, without nastiness or ridicule (imho) and stand by every word I've written.
I think if the OP's title hadn't been so factually incorrect, maybe some of the other posters would have replied differently.
Perhaps a lesson for the OP to take away for the future.....0 -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the purpose of OP posting in here in the first place to garner opinion?
People disagreeing with him is hardly akin to being set upon by a pack of wolves, or should we all have given the opinion OP wanted to hear? Would that have made your fluffy little world a better place?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

What a ridiculous statement.. it doesn't matter how Sodastream finance the giveaway, it is free if the customer is getting something without paying for it.
Quite agree.
And FWIW the Sample Packs that Sodastream gift you with your order can be purchased separately from the high street at around £10 a pack.0 -

Funny, the post that has amazed myself and others so far on this thread is probably your post!
The op not only started this thread but also included a poll. Why on earth should anyone then feel ashamed about replying with their view?
The internet is used by billions of people globally. If you take to a forum you have to be prepared that you may get many people giving a view.
It's a bit childish to describe those people giving their time to reply to someones thread on a forum inviting others views as a pack of wolves just because you're not in the majority when it comes to opinion.0
