I didn't feel 8 days was an acceptable shelf life for the type of product, 1 month maybe but 8 days!

But what you 'feel' is acceptable doesn't come into it if you are talking about 'terms'.

They did not renege on their terms.

For a product that isn't going to go off just because it passes it's best before date 8 days is acceptable.

As others have said, the goods has a shelf life longer than eight days.

To repeat: the goods had a 'best before' date, not a 'use by' date.

I would suggest that the product would probably still be good after one month.

You misunderstand my comment on the terms.

What I meant was 8 days falls quite short of 3 months.

I was not to say they did not meet their terms, just fell far short of their best efforts, which are ideally a minimum of 3 months.

I still feel angry and now surprised that so many people are willing to accept this as being ok. Quite a surprise, maybe in my business I shouldn't try so hard to please people????? Maybe that extra mile isn't worth it anymore? Wasn't the way I was taught but there you go.

You feel really aggrieved by this and the off-hand response from Sodastream has made matters worse. Maybe if they just sent you one more free sachet with a long shelf life, you'd have gone away feeling good about Sodastream.

If you are so wound up, you could return the whole purchase and free sachets, saying you didn't like Sodastream's attitude and get your money back.

But you'll be cutting your nose off to spite your face. If you'd not read about the "up to 3 months shelf life" on the free sachets but had read "Free sachets to use within 8 days" you'd have been none the wiser and probably happy with the package.

Well, I felt aggrieved and I still do. What else can I say?

I understand. Then send it all back so Sodastream get the message.

If you still want a Sodastream then after you've sent it all back and got your refund, go buy a new one anonymously from Argos.

Do you throw out everything that has passed it's best before date?

Their reply was not acceptable. The fact that they were free does not come into it. They should treat this order the same as an order that was paid for.
Obviously, though, if that response would be "keep the goods and we'll refund payment" then you would be no better off.

    Given that
    (a) they were in date
    (b) they only said they would _attempt_ to give goods with three month shelf life
    (c) they will be perfectly usable for at least a month after their "best before" date
I wouldn't pursue it any further, but it may make me thing twice about ordering from them again.
