So glad I'm not the only neurotic one! I know I have issue with children around water and I try really hard not to let it control days out but I can't help it.. ponds at the parks, river banks, streams.. I can just about deal with puddles!

I think they are growing the potatoes for these chips.. I may just have rice krispies and go to bed.. I am hot and exhausted and in pain and just can't be bothered with the effort of chewing.

Is it just me that thinks the idea of a slide going into a paddling pool is stupid and potentially very dangerous?? I know I am a bit neurotic around water.. but really.. that is asking for trouble.. what if they go down fast and their head goes under the water and the panic and can't get out?? See.. neurotic!

if it is being PROPERLY monitored by a sensible, sane and SOBER adult who has the sense to monitor and haul out immediately - fine.

If not, no; it's a potential drowning risk.

And I speak as an adult with a reputation for safety - my 'work' children are (probably) better supervised than my RL children. In fact I sent two kiddies to the office today to tell our clerk we were leaving by a certain door and could she pop out and pop the child lock on once we were gone - and she told the kiddies 'Mrs Valli' is very good at making sure doors are locked!:D

If some nutter (and I hope this won't ever happen to anyone anywhere) gets into our building with a gun it won't be through any door I've had jurisdiction over!

That is all of us out of the equation then.. no slide it is :p It would require me sitting outside in the disgusting weather we have at the moment.. that is simply not going to happen.

    happy to help!

and - to my colleague who walked up to me and informed me I had 'sleep' in my eyes at 1:30 pm - I am not a skank. I shower EVERY morning. So IF I have 'sleep-filled' eyes that will be a hay fever reaction (it's yellow and unpleasant BUT out of my control) and NOT me turning up unwashed.

DH bought the kiddiewinkles an inflatable swimming pool for the back garden once. They were 3&5 and you can't see our garden from the house. I never let him inflate it, in fact, I sold it at work. MiL wanted to have it at her house for the littlies and I said no. I pointed out that they were happy to go outside to play without me being there watching and that if there was a swimming pool, I would never be able to let them go out unsupervised again :(.

Raging insomnia with migraine here in the Skint Pitz this morning.....spent a good few hours out in log cabin last night putting wood treatment (I managed one more "easy wall" and another section of ceiling) I bunged a Dyno-Rod Soup on to simmer while I was working with the instruction to DD1 to go and stir it occasionally (nope, burnt soup, transferred to my other big pan without digging too deep to avoid too much burnt taste) put water and vinegar to salvage the burnt pan and told DD1 to stir it once in a while then turn off the heat.......when I could smell acrid burning AT THE FAR END OF THE 100' GARDEN I knew what mess I was walking back to :mad::eek::mad::eek:.....cue more boiling water and vinegar and watched it myself, then turned it off.

As I couldn't sleep, been down and cleared up the offending mess that DD1 was going to do as her penance, including scrubbing out my burnt pan. Just had a portion of [STRIKE]Dyno-Rod Soup[/STRIKE] Chimney Sweep Soup and some extra meds in the hope that sleep will return.....its already daylight for over an hour and I need to be up by 7 so I am going to shut down for now

The cold never bothered me anyway

    Morning all

Looks like another lovely day here. Off to cricket practice in a bit and a pop into Mr M to get a bit of food and petrol.

Laundry and bathroom cleaning on the flying front plus photos for ebay free listing - thanks Kaz.

Just typed a post and it disappeared before I sent it :(

Anyway - noise wasn't too bad last night - not very late, at least.

DW on clean cycle, kids eating, me :coffee:ing DD is dressed as she wanted a frock on, DS still in pants as "mum I'm a sweaty Betty take these off please" :rotfl:

We've been invited to another picnic, so I will make some snacks up soon. Then I need to get showered and dressed, and get us all covered in sunscreen.

I'm afraid we had our tiny slide into our paddling pool the other day. Having said that, I don't let them in the pool without me being sat right next to it anyway, given they are only 2 and 4. To be fair, the only wanted cups to our water down making a waterfall, rather than actually slide into the water...

Countdown to holiday 18 sleeps to go!

It was a typo Valli he was born '94. We married in '93.

Decluttered pimms and wine with school mummies last night. Nice evening.

Plan today is to get all the washing done so we can go to the beach tomorrow. New and old neighbours coming round for drinks and nibbles - we won't be smoking any foggy substances!
