Advice please, villa isn't a villa

If i had booked it via owners direct, then I would have expected the whole villa, including use of the terrace and pergola

Yes ad seems misleading but I did wonder why accommodation so limited given size of house.
Also the reviews were not very informative!

I agree. However, you might get lucky and be there the 2 weeks out of 6 when the owner is back in the UK.0 -
think i've found it, if you thought you were getting all that you didn't read the description properly. it clearly states the owners are available on-site. i think you maybe couldn't believe your luck?
the OP specifically mentioned owners irect and I can't see that the listing there says anything of that nature...others have said that the detail provided is different elsewhere, but if the OP only looked at owners direct then I don't think their understanding of what they were getting was unreasonable...though I don't know how prices compared to accomodation in the area - if any alarm bells should have started ringing or not.
I know many of us would have done more research and come across other websites that would have given more info...but I am in the camp that says the OD listing is not clear in this respect.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Id go as far as saying the advert, if not getting the whole villa is fraudulent.
Its easy after the horse has bolted to disect the advert and conclude this or that, but at £800 pw for a rural property its not so under priced not to be the whole villa0 -

I agree. I'd be livid if I'd booked it and found it was just part of a villa. For a similar price the OP could have booked something like this http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/VacationRentalReview-g656867-d2112068-Casa_Del_Limonar-Lake_Vinuela_Costa_del_Sol_Province_of_Malaga_Andalucia.html#rateDetails0 -
early July prices may have been in a lower price range for the OP, looks like the rates changed from 15th July0

the definition of a villa is a thorny one isn't it?
Where? I can't see it.Yes ad seems misleading but I did wonder why accommodation so limited given size of house.

I don't even think they are reviews, they just seem to be comments that have been added by the owner.
I always use HomeAway to book accommodation, and on that site the reviews are genuine ones posted by members, completely different to those comments.0 -
The advert in Owners Direct makes no mention of owner on site, and states that you have private use of the pool and grounds. So why should they have then started looking at other sites, I wouldn't have.
I would have said to the owner that we had expected to have sole use of the place for privacy and I hope he doesn't mind watching OH and I walking around naked all day and having sex by the pool. Also we like to stay up all night getting drunk and playing our music a full blast. That would have gotten a reaction I'm sure.
That place was fraudulently advertised and the owner knows it. I would sue his !!!The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

I do agree with you that the OD ad is misleading and have sympathy with the OP.
having said that it isn't difficult to find the other info and I would have done, as when booking something like that I would search all available info.
I think, like you, that the Op should have mentioned it as soon as they arrived.
It would still be good to get an update from the OP0
