Owners Direct aren't a booking agent, only an advertising portal and don't form part of the contract between the owner and renter.

Might they be interested in misleading information from a reputation point of view? I think if I was OP I'd inform them.

I would too. To me if this accomodation is always rented in this way then the listings on that and several other websites are somewhat missleading, either deliberately or accidentally.

Hope the OP managed to have an enjoyable holiday all the same.

You can dress it up how you like, pat your self on the back for being so clever and reading between the lines but the advert on Owners Direct is deliberately misleading.
Most people booking, I suspect ,would think they were getting exclusive use.

You have to read between the lines of holiday advertising and that's always been the case - nothing clever about it. You also have to have a bit of common sense about things.

However, if the OP was unhappy about the situation he should've either cancelled the holiday before going or have sought recompense while there. To post on a forum whilst saying nothing to the owner for 2 weeks is just plain daft and smacks of being the sort of regular complainant who wants to have his cake and eat it.

Rubbish.. I have stayed in many 'oversized' villas, always with and expecting sole occupancy. Often the upstairs or the basement has been locked off as the owner keeps their stuff up there so they can use it for their weeks with greater comfort.

And private use of pool doesn't just mean sole use, it means private! - so in privacy, obviously no one else around.

Whilst I take your first point, your second is just wrong. Lots of villas in Spain with "private" pools are on urbanizaciones (ie housing estates) with properties on both sides and all around. If you claimed that your pool wasn't private because others could see you while you used it you'd be laughed out of court. The word, in this context, simply means that you have the pool for sole use rather than shared or communal.

As an example, you can see that this villa with private pool has next door's pool on the other side of a low wall and is adjacent to the road - not much of the sort of privacy that you seem to think should go with it!

I too think you're completely wrong there.

Pools in the world of holiday rentals come in two categories, shared or private. The private referred to is private as in not public, not shared with other properties. Not private as in no-one can see what you're doing in the pool.

    Why do you?

I think it would be good if the OP emailed/got in contact with the owners and expressed their concers over the misleading advert and got them to explain and or change their ad.

The Op could/should also write a review on that site although it seems that may not be possible.

Of course it would then be good if the OP updated.

I guess though any of us could email the owner and ask why there are diffrent ads out there saying diffrent things

You have to read between the lines of holiday advertising and that's always been the case - nothing clever about it. You also have to have a bit of common sense about things.
You should not have to use common sense when the pictures show show you what you are getting and nothing at all is mentioned in the description.
It's not common sense that is making you all pull what is clearly a case of someone being mis-sold a villa, it is you all playing devils advocate.
At the end of the day it should say on the description where they are booking it. It is not for the prospective booker to have to decipher a description to work out if they only potentially have part of a villa.
If the OP had booked this through one of the Tour Operators in the UK such as Thomson or Thomas Cook you would be blaming them left right and centre.
Sad to say though. I am pretty sure you won't get anywhere now you are back and can only put it down to experience.
I would contact the owners though and just tell them that you were unhappy and recommend that they amend their description before someone not quite as accommodating as you arrives on their doorstep.

"Private" refers to having sole use of the pool, not whether it's overlooked or not.

You really don't need to look at other sites to realise that the house shown must contain more than 3 beds, living room and kitchen - sometimes you just have to use a bit of common sense.

Rubbish . real bull . Thats a real daft statement . Also wrong .
