But how do you do that when the manager as in this case simply refuses to do anything.

I don't know I guess? I don't think I would have had the face to do what mum2one did, so bravo to her for getting it sorted :T I would have made it clear to him though that 'fine, ok, so you're telling me that you're not going to do anything, call yourself a manager? You can rest assured this doesn't end here, you're spoiling my enjoyment of the show by not doing anything, I will take this further'

Usually when you mention that it will be taken to a higher authority, they usually back down or something is usually done. Not in all cases of course, In this case it sounds like he was a spineless wimp who couldn't do his job properly and didn't want any confrontation....either that or he just wasn't arsed!

Just come across this thread. Are the person who stood up and shouted about all the medication she was on? If so, I have to say, I hope it was the drugs talking, because your behaviour was dreadful. You embarrassed the band, the staff and the whole audience. The people taking photos weren't disturbing anyone, they were sat down and not using flash, you weren't sat directly behind them and could have just ignored it. I know lots of people went up to them in the interval and sympathised. The announcement that was made was for no filming, not no photos. I did check and the band had given permission for photos all through the show. I think if you go to a gig these days you have to accept that is what happens. People in other parts of the theatre continued taking pics, even with flash, and there were no complaints. The people you complained about stopped taking them, which I don't think was fair. I'd guess you spoiled the evening for quite a few people, including the two little children of one of the ladies, who were upset and scared. I think anyone who interrupts a show like that when others have come to see and enjoy should be asked to leave at once and not be allowed back. If you don't like what happens, don't go. And I believe you were also complaining about people laughing, cheering and shouting too loudly? Maybe live concerts aren't really for you?

Something doesn't add up here. OP says they were sat on the second row - how would they know about people taking photo's anywhere other than in front of them? And not sure how OP would scare the children.

Though if photos were allowed, this would explain why the duty manager didn't do anything about it.

I guess the only conclusion we can draw is that Showaddywaddy fans are strange.

    You are a complete idiot.

You think that it's 'fair' that someone shells out a lot of money to see a performance and then has their view of said performance blocked by some selfish morons?

But you think it's 'unfair' that the selfish morons who were stopping the people who were just wanting to see what they had paid for were eventually shamed into behaving half ways decently?

It's people of your ilk, with your weird, selfish, backwards, logic, that make the world a less pleasant place for everyone else

You hit on he didn't want any fuss - I paid the same as others to see the show, there was about 8 people who complained - it was a one night show, - he was the manager there no one else - so i took action, to be honest it is not I thing I would do, I do complain as I have done in the past, we've had issues with businesses "certain electric retailers" who only did what they should have done when the local press got involved, - that the difference between a 1 off show and an item that can wait. x

    On a Showaddywaddy related note....
Years ago I worked with a bloke who claimed to be their biggest fan. He told me that he went on a stag do to The Frontier in Batley - it was a long time ago!

Anyway he was a bit worse for wear and took it upon himself to go on stage !! He waited until they were between songs walked up to the singer and started, telling him how much he loved the band, how long he had been a fan etc etc, he was right in front of the mic, so everyone could hear him.

The singer understandably gob smacked turned round and shouted-WILL YOU P*** OFF - apparently the crowd thought this was hilarious,so he slunk off and got an early taxi home.

    What a plum!!

Disrespectful to the band and to the rest of the audience.

You obviously thought you were some kind of hero but it appears no everyone sees it the way you do.

I've come across self-centred fans before at shows and gigs "I've paid a lot of money and ....." Well yes love but so have the rest of the audience so remember you aren't thirteen anymore so sit down and give yourself a talking to and stop trying to ruin the evening for everyone else.
