I was basing my comment on how I read it when it was first posted - although, I must admit I checked it after it had been edited before making the most recent post.

Nonetheless, that was the initial impression - as I pointed out, the other possibility does not even make sense because there is no way an single unamplified could even begin to make themselves heard with a band playing.
I do disagree on this, a woman waving at the front of the stage would garner the bands attention and may make them stop playing.

    C'est la vie...

If I was the OP though, I'd be complaining to the boss of the duty manager for his incompetence. Being asked 4 times to do something and then not, when people have paid their hard earned money to see the show is just not on.

Yes, this really is the crux of the matter, isn't it?

Youve hit it on the nail depite me speaking to thr duty manager on 4 seperate occasions, and other people speaking to him, he just refused to do anything, hence I did what I did,
Its not a thing that I would normally do, but I was just driven mad by that time. x

Well done OP for having the balls to do this. Went to see Tasmin Archer back in 1992, and the guy who was responsible for monitoring/adjusting the sound (or whatever these knobs were for) stood up for literally the whole concert, totally blocking our view, and it seemed so unnecessary. Absolutely ruined the occasion.

Showaddywaddy were the first band I ever saw :o

Mine too! In Southport, when they'd just became famous but before they had that long string of hits from the mid to late 1970s.

What part of "by this time showaddywaddy had stopped singing and were gobsmacked" don't you understand?

    .

I 'spect they were gobsmacked cuz its thirty years or more since a woman has run up to them on stage! Bet they were gutted when they found out you were complaining about the view, not about to hurl your knickers at them. ;)

:rotfl: It wasn't me who ran up to the stage and complained, but yeah, I bet they thought it was their lucky night! :D

I stated in my first post that I agreed with the OP, people infront of you blocking your view etc is wrong and I wouldn't have been at all happy, and I would not have sat there meekly, I would have made the manager do something....I don't however agree with what the OP did, and if that in your eyes makes me a troll, then so be it :(

But how do you do that when the manager as in this case simply refuses to do anything.
    It's someone else's fault.
